Your Role

We are currently looking for several Tech Leads for the Microwave and Antenna Design department within the Business Area Design. As a Tech Lead, you will be part of a team consisting today of circuit board designers with competence in power, digital, and/or microwave design.

In the role of Tech Lead, you will have a key function in a product- or competence-oriented team that applies agile-inspired working methods. The Tech Lead is the Point of Contact for the purely operational and strategic design work, both to maintain products over time and to develop new ones. You will likely hold a delegated design responsibility from the line organization, which includes providing input to, driving, and realizing the overall product technology roadmap that the team's decomposed design work aligns with.

The organization strives for a proactive working approach, where teams take ownership of their product and competence areas. This means that the teams, with the Tech Lead as the driving force, actively present and implement improvements in consultation with product/program management and involved Business Units' systems and subsystems, regarding capability/performance-enhancing, cost-reducing, or yield-improving measures.

Key Functions in the Role

Product Knowledge:

• Deep knowledge within the chosen product area, understanding of subsystem and system levels, and how technology choices within your area of responsibility interact in the whole
• Strong understanding of the product and technology area linked to the business's needs and profitability
• Follows up on manufacturing costs, failure rates, and product profitability through dialogue with purchasing and production

Technical Leadership:

• Contributes to developing the technical roadmap and making technology choices together with product owners, technology specialists, and product management
• Ensures that the technical roadmap and strategy are realized within the team
• Evaluates and breaks down technically complex tasks into understandable and manageable subsets for the designers in the team
• Works on active improvements on existing products with regard to, for example, manufacturability, production testing, and end-of-line handling
• Can, if necessary, drive and coordinate technical improvement efforts involving multiple teams and/or business areas

Communication:

• Is the team's Point of Contact in technical matters
• Provides status updates and recommendations to stakeholders in various established forums, e.g., end-of-line and pulse meetings
• Can train others and act as a mentor within the team's product and technology area
• Builds networks within the organization
• Can provide input to management regarding personnel, team, and business development

Method and Process:

• Very good knowledge of the product development process, and sees opportunities for efficiency combined with maintained quality

Mandate:

• Delegated design responsibility

The role reports to project/program management and the line organization responsible for design.

Your Profile

To succeed in the role requires close collaboration with subsystem experts responsible for systems, product and program management for the platform, product owners, production, test & measurement, and technical specialists. The daily work is performed in close collaboration with the team's Team Leader, whose main task is to act as an interface to stakeholders, coordinate, and follow up on the team's delivery goals against cost and schedule.

We believe that you as a Tech Lead have solid technical experience from the entire product development cycle with so-called T-shaped competence, that is, technical breadth as well as technical depth within a specific area.

The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the currently valid regulations for security clearance. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, entail requirements for certain citizenship.
