Do you have a background in electrical work or mechanics and enjoy working with your hands? Or are you the type of person who can fix just about anything, from home renovations to tinkering with cars in your spare time? We are currently looking for several technicians for our client in Västerås for one of Sweden's most exciting train projects!

About the role

Our client in Västerås is currently undergoing a total modernization of a well-known fleet of high-speed trains. The project involves a complete renewal of the trains – from software and electrical systems to pure hardware and interior design. Each train goes through a journey through production, which is divided into different "tacts" (phases). You will contribute to ensuring that each train meets high demands for quality and safety. The work involves varied tasks in different phases of the project. Depending on your skills, you will be placed in the phase where you can be most useful. Tact 1 involves stripping and dismantling, while later tacts involve advanced electrical installation and final assembly. We are looking for you who want to grow with the task and have the drive to learn new systems.

What we offer

You are offered good development opportunities within a forward-looking industry, with the chance for internal mobility for those who show initiative. After six months, there is an opportunity for permanent employment with the company.

Responsibilities

The role of Train Technician involves practical work with the modernization of trains. You will perform mechanical and electrical work, including dismantling, assembly, troubleshooting, and repairs. The work requires precision and the ability to follow technical specifications and drawings in a safety-critical environment.

  • Dismantle and assemble mechanical and electrical components in trains.
  • Replace soft parts and hardware according to technical specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and rectify mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Work with different phases of train modernization, from demolition to completion.
  • Ensure high quality and safety in all work.

We are looking for you who

...primarily have experience as an electrician or mechanic in industry or workshop. You are accustomed to working systematically with technical systems and feel comfortable in a production environment.

...but we also know that the right handiwork can be found with many others! Do you have a background as a carpenter, are you a whiz at tinkering with cars at home in the garage, or are you simply someone who "gets" how things fit together without having it on paper? Can you handle a drill, a measuring tool, and screw with precision? Then you might be exactly who we are looking for.

We would like you to have:

  • Basic knowledge as an electrician or mechanic in industry or workshop.
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Good ability to read and understand drawings and electrical diagrams.
  • Fluency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
  • Very precise and structured in your work.
  • Good teamwork skills and a strong drive to learn.
  • Advanced ability to handle tools and perform practical work.

It is an advantage if you have

  • Previous experience from the train industry.
  • Can read and understand electrical diagrams or technical drawings.
  • Have a technical education in electricity, vehicles, or train technology.

We are looking for "visionaries". People who believe in the project and genuinely want to be part of driving it forward. For us, it is important that you are a humble team player with a strong focus on your craft. We appreciate genuine technical interest and would like to see that you enjoy getting down to the details, while never compromising on safety. You are precise in your execution, see solutions where others see problems, and thrive best when you roll up your sleeves and get things done.

Our recruitment process

This recruitment process is handled by Academic Work, and our client's request is that all questions regarding the position are sent to Academic Work.

We apply continuous selection and will remove the ad when enough candidates have reached the final stage of the recruitment process. A CV is requested upon application. We do not use a cover letter as a selection method, so it does not need to be attached. The recruitment process includes two selection tests: a personality test and a cognitive ability test. The tests are a tool to find the candidate with the highest potential for the position and to promote equality, diversity, and a fair recruitment process.
