About the Role

First Solar is a global leader in solar energy, specializing in the development and manufacturing of advanced solar modules using its own thin-film technology. As a Process Technician at First Solar, you will have a varied and practical role in a high-tech laboratory environment. You will work closely with development engineers and play a key role in turning experimental plans into reality, from manufacturing to the analysis and improvement of solar cell technology. Your days will consist of a combination of practical work and problem-solving. You will drive and monitor processes, handle advanced equipment, and ensure that manufacturing maintains high quality. At the same time, you will analyze results, identify areas for improvement, and contribute to developing both processes and working methods. This is a role for you who thrives in a dynamic environment where theory meets practice, and where your work actually contributes to the development of sustainable energy solutions.

This is a consultancy assignment, meaning you will be employed by Academic Work and work as a consultant at First Solar. The assignment will be full-time and long-term. There are very good prospects for permanent hiring, provided all parties are satisfied with the collaboration.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will among other things:

• Operate, monitor, and analyze production processes on a laboratory scale
• Work with advanced equipment such as vacuum, laser, and sputtering systems
• Manufacture solar cells according to set experimental plans
• Perform precise tasks such as sample washing and work in a glovebox
• Document processes and contribute to the development of work instructions (SOP)
• Perform quality controls, measurements, and analyses
• Interpret technical documentation and support equipment maintenance

We are looking for you who

• Have a post-secondary education in a relevant technical field, e.g., electronics, materials science, technical physics, or similar
• Alternatively, have a natural science/technical education at the high school level combined with relevant work experience
• Have experience from a similar technical role, for example, working close to advanced equipment in a production or laboratory environment
• Have an analytical approach to work and can identify opportunities for improvement
• Have a very good technical understanding
• Have good knowledge of the Office package
• Are very comfortable with Swedish and English in both speech and writing, as this is required to perform the job

It is an advantage if you have

• Experience of maintenance work in a technical environment
• Experience of vacuum technology
• Experience of SQL databases and/or analysis tools such as JMP
• Previous experience of working in an international environment
