School Librarian at Internationella Engelska Skolan Österåker

In August 2024, we opened the doors to Internationella Engelska Skolan Österåker, a new school with a clear vision of safety, a conducive study environment, and high academic results.

We are now looking for someone who wants to make a real difference and seize a unique opportunity to build and develop our school library from the ground up.

About the Position

As a school librarian with us, you will play a central role in creating an inspiring and inclusive learning environment where literature, information literacy, and the joy of reading are at the forefront.

The position is 75% and involves both strategic and operational work to develop the library's activities in close collaboration with the school's staff and students.

Your Responsibilities

You will:

  • Build and develop the school library as a pedagogical resource
  • Promote reading and language development among our students
  • Support students in information searching and source criticism
  • Collaborate with teachers to integrate the library into teaching
  • Create activities, projects, and initiatives to promote reading
  • Contribute to a calm, safe, and inspiring study environment

Your Profile

We are looking for someone with education in library and information science or equivalent experience.

You are engaged, proactive, and have a strong interest in children's and young people's reading and learning. You are confident in your role, possess good collaboration skills, and enjoy working closely with both students and colleagues.

Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, is required. Good knowledge of English, both spoken and written, is a prerequisite.

Experience working in a school is an asset.

Additional Information

  • The position is 75% with a 6-month probation period
  • Interviews are conducted on an ongoing basis, and the position may be filled before the application deadline
  • A valid extract from the criminal register (belastningsregistret) for work within the school system is mandatory upon employment
