About the job

As a bailiff (kronoinspektör), you will primarily work on investigating assets and making decisions regarding appropriate enforcement measures. You hold an impartial role, helping those who need to get paid while providing support and advice to those who need to pay.

You will start your employment as an aspirant. After completing approved training and practical work, you will receive the title of bailiff. The training, lasting approximately one year, includes subjects such as law, customer service, and communication techniques.

The tasks vary in scope and complexity. The cases you handle require speed and efficiency while maintaining high quality. Supported by laws and regulations, you will assess the evidence and make decisions. You will work both in the office and outside, where you will, among other things, investigate debtors' assets and carry out evictions.

Everyone working at the Swedish Enforcement Authority (Kronofogden) contributes to the fight against crime. Your duties include identifying and preventing attempts at criminality and notifying other authorities of suspected crimes. As a bailiff, you may discover various types of criminality while on duty and participating in collaborative efforts with other authorities. This can result in you contributing to stopping money laundering and preventing organized crime.

The position is based at the office in Malmö.

Your qualifications:

  • University or college education with at least 180 ECTS credits (120 points according to the old system) in law, economics, social sciences, or an equivalent higher education.
  • Driver's license for a car with a manual transmission.
  • Good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both verbally and in writing.

It is desirable that you have current and relevant work experience in case handling, investigation, or decision-making that affects individuals and companies. It is also desirable that you have current and relevant work experience in handling contacts with people in difficult life situations.

Good to know

The employment is permanent and begins with a six-month probationary period. You will be employed as a bailiff aspirant. Working hours are primarily during office hours, but some work may also occur during inconvenient times. Kronofogden offers the possibility of remote work by agreement with the employer.

Working in the government means you follow the government value system. There are also special requirements regarding judgment, security thinking, and adherence to applicable laws. We ask questions during interviews about any previous criminality or deficiencies in previous employment. For final candidates, these questions are also asked of reference persons. We also obtain information about debts registered with Kronofogden, bankruptcy, and business bans. Any information obtained is weighed in the overall assessment of your suitability for the current employment.

Employment with us may involve placement in a security class. A security clearance with a registry check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) may therefore be carried out before a decision on employment is made. For some of our tasks in the security class, Swedish citizenship is required.
