Your Tasks

As a Data Protection Officer (DPO), you have a supportive and monitoring role, which includes ensuring that personal data is processed correctly and legally, as well as informing and advising on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and related legislation. Furthermore, as a DPO, you will serve as a contact point for the supervisory authority and for registered individuals.

The DPO assignment includes:

• Serving as a knowledge resource for Linköping Municipality's boards and certain municipal companies regarding the GDPR and related legislation.
• Monitoring internal compliance with the GDPR and, in some cases, reporting the organization's deficiencies and development needs.
• Supporting the investigation and reporting of personal data breaches.
• Assisting in the conduct of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).

In your role, you will work together with the municipality's other Data Protection Officers to support Linköping Municipality's boards and certain municipal companies.

Your Workplace

As a Data Protection Officer, you will be placed in the municipality's Legal Department. The department is responsible for municipality-wide legal issues and ensures that professional expert support is available within the legal field, also supporting certain municipal companies on data protection matters. The Legal Department is led by the Head of Legal and consists of six municipal lawyers, two Data Protection Officers, one Information Security Officer, and one Data Protection Strategist. We are located in central Linköping. You will work Monday to Friday, and the role operates on a trust-based working time system (förtroendetid).

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone with a Master's degree in Business Law, a Licentiate in Law/Juris Doctor, or another university degree deemed equivalent by the employer. You must have good knowledge of the GDPR and related legislation. Experience in legal work, as a Data Protection Officer, or in the field is considered an asset. Experience with the AI Act and working within the public sector is also considered an asset.

The job requires excellent knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, to support and inform about legislation, among other things.

To succeed in this role, you need to be able to take responsibility for your tasks by planning, organizing, and prioritizing your work effectively, as well as driving your processes forward. You have a natural ability to remain calm and focus on solutions. You work well with others and can relate to them in an attentive and smooth manner. You listen and communicate clearly and articulately to both small and large groups.
