Are you passionate about sewing and want to help manage and develop the costume department at High Chaparral? We are currently looking for an Atelier and Costume Manager to join our team!

About the role
As the Atelier and Costume Manager, you will have a creative role within our operations. The position is primarily operational and involves practical work with sewing, repairs, new production, and maintenance of our costumes. You will ensure that the costumes maintain high quality and are ready for daily use.

High Chaparral is a seasonal business, and therefore the work varies throughout the year.

The theme of High Chaparral is the Wild West, which permeates everything we do year-round. During the summer season, we focus specifically on the Wild West of the 1870s and aim to be as authentic as possible. Therefore, it is important that our costume atelier reflects history in everything from style and materials to accessories. This is what makes us unique!

During the summer season, you will also lead a team of costume makers in the atelier, where you plan the work, distribute tasks, and ensure efficient and well-functioning collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Sewing, adjusting, and repairing costumes
  • Ongoing maintenance and quality assurance
  • Planning and structuring atelier work
  • Recruitment and team leadership during the summer season
  • Collaboration with other departments regarding needs and new production
  • Responsible for purchasing for the atelier

We are looking for someone who

  • Has relevant post-secondary education in sewing and previous professional experience in sewing and design
  • Has experience with various types of machines
  • Is meticulous, solution-oriented, and has an eye for detail
  • Has experience working with theater productions or similar
  • Thrives in an operational role with a high pace
  • Has experience leading or coordinating work (merit)
  • Is structured and can plan work independently
  • Interest in costume history is a big plus, given that we work based on the history of the Wild West.

We offer

  • A creative and fun job with great variety in daily work
  • The opportunity to unleash your creativity and create costumes from scratch
  • The opportunity to put your own stamp on the operations and build a strong team during the summer season
  • Being part of a growing business

The role is a permanent full-time position with a monthly salary. You will report to the company's Theater and Costume Director.

Location: Kulltorp

If you have questions about the position or your application, please contact our Theater and Costume Director, Linn Starby, at [email protected]
