About the Position

We are looking for an initiative-taking, driven, and independent exhibition technician with broad competence in exhibition and museum technology within maintenance, operation, and service of technology and constructions for exhibitions. As an exhibition technician, your main tasks are to receive fault reports, troubleshoot, and rectify emerging problems. This may involve restarting various media technology units, repairing or replacing broken technology, and performing simple carpentry work. Tasks also include assembly, touch-up painting, and repair of faults in the exhibitions, as well as replacing fixtures, projectors, and video screens. The position also includes ensuring that exhibitions are kept neat, clean, and well-maintained, as well as being responsible for the service and maintenance of lighting, projectors, and other AV technology. Simple adjustments in software and network settings also occur. The position involves working at heights, hot work, and rigging safety; heavy lifting may occur.

As an exhibition technician, you will work together with other exhibition technicians and operations technicians at the museum operations unit on physical production, installation of the museum's exhibitions, and other premises. The position is based in Stockholm and covers work at the Maritime Museum, the Vasa Museum, Vrak - Museum of Wrecks, and the Army Museum.

Your Competence and Background

You must have post-secondary education in an area we consider relevant for the position, for example, in exhibition, stage, or event technology, or equivalent experience. You must have documented technical work experience in maintenance work, constructions, decor, or furnishings for stage and/or exhibitions. You must have experience working with lighting and AV technology, handling carpentry machines, and digital technology, control systems, and network technology. You express yourself well in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

It is an advantage if you have experience with programs in Adobe Creative Suite for simple graphic work, as well as software for controlling lighting and AV such as Ecue, Blocks, Watchout, and Brightsign or equivalent. If you have education with corresponding certificates in working at heights, hot work, and rigging safety, this is considered an advantage. Previous experience of museum activities is also considered an advantage.

You enjoy working in a team and contribute to achieving the unit's common mission; you are also careful and flexible regarding what a varied workday can offer. You must have a B driver's license.

More About Us

The Museum Operations Unit belongs to the Operational Support Department and is responsible for the operation and maintenance of exhibitions and premises for all the authority's museums in Stockholm, Karlskrona, Gävle, and Linköping. The employee group is present at all locations and consists of 20 technicians in museum operations and exhibition technology. In this role, you also have the opportunity to contribute to the authority's development work in your area. As an exhibition technician, you will also work together with other technicians on physical production, installation of the museum's exhibitions, and other operations and maintenance.

Employment

Permanent employment, a 6-month probationary period applies. Start immediately or by agreement. The place of duty is Stockholm, but travel to all the authority's operational locations may occur in the position. Weekend and evening work occurs, which requires flexibility.
