We are seeking an engaged and skilled mother tongue teacher in Swedish Sign Language who wants to support primary school students with deaf parents or siblings. The Unit for Multilingualism is a central unit for mother tongue teaching and study guidance in mother tongue in a 6-19 year perspective: in preschool class, primary school, adapted primary school, upper secondary school, and adapted upper secondary school. The unit's mandate includes coordinating and organizing operations in both municipal and independent schools.

Description of duties

You will conduct mother tongue teaching in Swedish Sign Language for primary school students with deaf parents or deaf siblings. Your duties include teaching the subject of mother tongue according to current governing documents (curriculum for the subject mother tongue). Teaching takes place at the municipality's schools.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a pedagogical university degree and grades in Swedish Sign Language. The work requires that you have very good knowledge of Swedish and Swedish Sign Language. Having a B driver's license and your own car is considered an asset.

You have good pedagogical insight and understand how students acquire language and knowledge in different ways. You adapt the teaching based on each student's prerequisites and make the language lively and accessible. In your oral communication, you express yourself clearly, engaged, and in a way that creates security and understanding. Last but not least, you work in a structured manner, plan, organize, and follow up on teaching in an effective way.
