We are currently seeking an engaged and flexible school counselor (social worker) who wants to be an important part of the school's social team, contributing to safety, well-being, and a positive school environment for our students in grades 7–9. We welcome your application!

Your Responsibilities

As a school counselor with us, you will become part of a social team including social pedagogues, leisure activity leaders, and another counselor. The school is in a development phase where we are strengthening our social work, and we are looking for someone who thrives in a high-tempo environment, is flexible, and eager to contribute to development. In this role, you will be an active and present resource in the students' daily lives.

Your responsibilities include classroom teaching based on the school's annual plan and values work, supervising staff on student matters at both group and individual levels, and playing a key role in the school's plan against discrimination and bullying, as well as in our SKA (Safety, Knowledge, and Action) work to increase safety and well-being. Together with the team, you will develop the school's safety initiatives.

You will work both preventively and remedially at the individual and group levels, support mentors in student matters, and collaborate with external actors such as social services, child and adolescent psychiatry (BUP), and the police. The work also involves promoting school community, preventing absenteeism, conducting investigations regarding absenteeism and bullying cases, maintaining contact with guardians, and managing conflicts.

Your Competence

We are looking for someone with a degree in social work (Socionom) and experience working with youth. You have good knowledge of the Education Act and the Social Services Act, as well as experience in operational and student-focused school social work. You are accustomed to collaborating with various actors such as social services and the police and have good verbal and written communication skills in Swedish. Experience working in a school, particularly at the upper secondary level, is an asset.

As a person, you are structured, confident in your professional role, and possess good self-awareness. You enjoy collaborating closely with others while also working independently and driving processes forward. You find it easy to build good relationships with both students and staff, creating trust through your professional approach. You are flexible, can prioritize, and make well-considered decisions even in stressful situations. You have the ability to understand students' situations and perspectives without taking on their emotions, and you value diversity and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect human behavior. You are motivated to find solutions that make a difference and are passionate about young people's mental health, learning, and development.

What We Offer

We are proud to be a school with a warm atmosphere and personal touch for our 350 students in grades 7–9. Together, we are 45 employees organized into working groups, subject teams, EHT (Educational Health Team), and other teams based on our various assignments. At the school, you will meet engaged staff with a strong will to develop and improve. We focus on good teaching, structure, study peace, as well as safety and well-being. We have a clear systematic quality work where all staff participate in continuously improving and developing our school's operations.
