Do you want to work in social services with children and youth while having the opportunity to develop towards a social worker role? Your responsibilities

As an assistant social worker, you will be part of the case management within children and youth. You will participate in social work by attending meetings with clients and partners alongside social workers, documenting, and performing other administrative tasks. This will give you a good insight into authority exercise and daily social work.

You do not have your own delegation and do not make independent decisions, but you are an important part of the work process and participate in the dialogue around cases and assessments. You are involved in collaboration both internally and externally.

As part of the position, you will undergo a commissioned training program to complement your academic education with the knowledge required for work as a social worker. The goal is for you to be validated for the social worker role after completing the training and eventually work independently with delegation and your own decisions.

Your introduction

Your introduction will be tailored to your needs and previous experience, and you will receive close support from team leaders, managers, and specialists in your daily work. You will be offered external supervision once a month. We work based on clear guidelines and value your thoughts and ideas, which give you the opportunity to influence both your work and the development of the organization.

Your qualifications

We are looking for someone who has a strong interest in social work and the needs of children and youth. You have an academic degree in behavioral science or another similar relevant education, such as public health or criminology. It is an advantage if you have taken courses in social work or have experience in the field. If you also have knowledge of social law or have completed basic training in BBIC, we view this positively.

Since documentation is an important part of the job, you need to have a good ability to express yourself clearly and professionally in both speech and writing. You also need to have good collaboration skills while being able to work independently and in a structured manner. You have the ability to be clear in your communication and can adapt it to the situation and audience. For us, it is important that you have a genuine commitment to social work and a desire to make a difference for people in vulnerable situations.

A driving license (B) is required as travel in the job occurs. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

The children and youth department consists of three equally sized units that all work towards the same goal. Each unit has a unit manager, four team leaders, one to two senior caseworkers, and around twenty social workers and assistant social workers. We work unit-wise, but when needed, we collaborate across unit boundaries. With us, there is an opportunity for remote work two days a week. We are located in the Social Services House right by the station area where all authority exercising units in the individual and family administration are located. The proximity to each other facilitates collaboration so that our clients can receive the best possible help.

Other information

During the interview, you will be required to complete a work sample and have the opportunity for a tour of the building by a social worker currently working in the unit. Before you can be hired, you need to present a valid extract from the police criminal record.

Probationary employment may be applied.

In connection with the interview, you need to prove your citizenship. You can do this with a passport or a personal certificate along with an ID document. If you are not a citizen of Sweden, the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, you must show that you have a valid work permit or are exempt from the requirement to have a work permit.
