About the Position

We are currently seeking an interim economist for the Economy Department within the Municipal Administration, until August 2027.

The department has overall responsibility for developing, leading, and coordinating the municipality's strategic work within operational management, finance, and procurement. Other tasks involve providing advice, support, and service to politicians, managers, and others. Administrative processes in the municipality are centralized, and therefore economic support for boards and departments is gathered here at the Economy Department.

You will join a team of 11 economic controllers and economists, providing support to the various operations within the municipality. You will work in very close collaboration with the controllers/economists in your specific team who work within the same operational area.

Responsibilities

As an economist at Boden Municipality, you will work to provide consultative management support to operational and unit managers in their work with budgeting, forecasting, closing, reporting, and analysis, which involves close contact with the operations. The role also includes participating in investigations and development projects, as well as conducting training for managers and employees. You will work on other finance-related tasks involving statistics, state grants, project management, operational data, etc. Ongoing accounting issues are also part of the work.

Qualifications

For this role, we are looking for someone who has:

  • Completed academic education in the field of economics
  • Experience working with the Office suite, with particularly good skills in Excel
  • The ability to communicate fluently in Swedish, both orally and in writing

We also expect you to:

  • Have experience giving presentations and feel confident doing so
  • Be able to communicate financial information in a pedagogical and easy-to-understand manner

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Worked with operationally close management support
  • Experience with Hypergene for follow-up and analysis, as well as Unit4's financial system
  • Worked within the public sector or other large organizations
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations from the municipal sector

As a person, you are analytical, structured, and have a consultative approach. You plan, organize, and prioritize your work efficiently and take overall responsibility for your tasks. You are proactive and initiate development work. You adapt easily to changing circumstances and have a good ability to listen and communicate with others. We place great importance on your personal qualities.
