Your New Job

In Jönköping Municipality, a unique initiative is underway to promote language development in our preschools and primary schools. Working as a language pedagogue at one of the 15 primary schools that have been allocated language pedagogue positions is part of this initiative.

As a language pedagogue, you will collaborate to develop teaching in preschool class, grade 1, and after-school care based on the school's needs and student results. You will start from a centrally developed assignment description and, together with the principal, draft your school-specific assignment. Your work includes leading and supporting collegial development processes based on research and proven experience to contribute to increasing the school unit's competence in language, reading, and writing development. You will also support students in preschool class and grade 1 at the group level in their language, reading, and writing development, making interventions together with the teaching team. Based on a language plan developed by the municipality, you will ensure that teaching in preschool class and grade 1 is grounded in scientific evidence and proven experience.

Welcome to Us

We are currently seeking a language pedagogue for Råslättsskolan. Råslättsskolan is one of the municipality's larger schools (grades F–6) located in the Råslätt district in southern Jönköping. The school is multicultural and currently has approximately 480 students and 80 employees. We have high qualification rates and good teacher density, and together we work to create a workplace where everyone thrives and develops. Here, you will work alongside engaged and competent colleagues who focus on student learning and development. The school is led by a principal and two deputy principals.

Your Competence

We are looking for a certified teacher with a focus on younger ages and several years of experience in teaching reading and writing development in the lower grades. We prefer candidates with experience in teaching Swedish as a second language.

We expect you to have good experience in language-promoting work, documented experience in driving development work in schools, and experience in quality assurance work. You have experience in improving student academic results and a strong interest in developing teaching. You possess good analytical skills and the courage to act to contribute to change. As a person, you find it easy to build trusting relationships.

Good to Know

The language pedagogue position is a permanent employment with vacation pay and flexible hours within the Education Administration of Jönköping Municipality. The immediate supervisor is the principal. All language pedagogues are part of a network that holds continuous collegial meetings.
