About the operation

The forensic psychiatry unit is a unique operation within Sahlgrenska University Hospital, located in Gunnilse, about 20 minutes by public transport from central Gothenburg.

The forensic psychiatry unit cares for patients who have been sentenced to forensic psychiatric care after committing crimes under the influence of a serious mental disorder.

Acute Unit 4 receives patients who have recently been sentenced to forensic psychiatric care as well as forensic psychiatric patients who are readmitted from outpatient care to inpatient care during periods that cannot be managed with support and treatment solely in outpatient care. In some cases, we also receive patients from our rehabilitation units who need temporary placement in an acute unit.

We are now looking for a new employee for our acute unit! The position is a permanent position.

Job responsibilities

As a caregiver within forensic psychiatry, you work both with care and community protection. You are part of a team with several professional categories and together with your colleagues, you work closely with the patients. As a contact person, you will also be involved in the care planning around the patients, which means collaboration both internally and externally.

Your main task is to be present for the patients and maintain a calm and safe environment in the unit. As a caregiver, you have a supportive function while also making daily observations. You will work with mapping, care planning, and performing caring and rehabilitative interventions both in the unit and outside the hospital area. You will document in Melior and check patients in and out in Elvis.

The work also includes some medication management by delegation, sample taking, and monitoring vital parameters.

About you

We are looking for someone who is a trained caregiver with previous experience in care work. It is an advantage if you have experience in psychiatry. You are a calm and secure person with a genuine interest in people in vulnerable situations. You have the ability to listen, understand, set boundaries, and motivate. We are looking for someone with the competence to handle threatening and violent situations, which requires good physical ability and the ability to act physically when necessary, both in training situations and in acute situations.
