Subject Description
The subject encompasses knowledge related to the construction and spatial design of the physical environment, particularly buildings, landscapes, and cities, and the interaction between them, as well as knowledge of their historical and contemporary significance for societal development in various geographical and cultural contexts and in relation to sustainable development. It includes in-depth knowledge of architectural design of buildings, spaces, and surrounding environments, as well as spatial and material design tools and concepts that enable an understanding of and development of the field of architecture and its work processes.
Job Responsibilities
The position mainly involves work as a teacher in the courses offered in architectural projects within the architecture program but may also include engagement in other courses within the department. Staffing planning is done annually, depending on current needs, and the composition of the teaching team may therefore lead to teaching in different grade levels becoming relevant. The job responsibilities include planning and development of courses, teaching, course administration, pedagogical development, and collaboration within KTH and with the surrounding community. The position is part-time, 40%. Teaching at the undergraduate level is conducted in Swedish and at the advanced level in English.
The applicant will be part of the Department of Architecture, Culture, and Environment and is expected to contribute to the department's development work.
Eligibility
Eligible for appointment as a lecturer in artistic activities is someone who has
- completed a degree at the undergraduate or advanced level in the subject of the appointment or has equivalent competence.
- artistic proficiency that is significant in relation to the subject matter of the appointment and the tasks to be included in the appointment.
- demonstrated pedagogical skill.
Assessment Criteria
The assessment criteria for appointment as a lecturer at KTH are those specified in section 1.5 of KTH's employment regulations concerning the established employment profile.
It is of utmost importance that the applicant has
- artistic understanding of the field of architecture as a whole with a focus on cultural and environmental issues.
- artistic skill relevant to the content of the appointment demonstrated through architectural design projects.
- documented professional competence relevant to the content of the appointment.
- good ability to communicate about architectural design issues in professional and pedagogical contexts.
- participated in contexts significant for the development of the subject and profession, such as exhibitions, publications, competitions, and symposia, for example with architectural design projects or artistic research and development projects.
It is of secondary importance that the applicant has
- documented pedagogical skill within the subject area and experience of teaching within architecture education and architectural project courses specifically. The assessment of pedagogical skill should also consider the person's ability to develop as a teacher in the long term.
- digital competence relevant to the subject area.
- professional experience outside of higher education.
- collaborative skills, including knowledge of diversity and equality issues with a particular focus on gender equality.
It is also significant that the applicant has
- higher education pedagogical training.
- ability to collaborate with the surrounding community.
- ability to develop and lead operations and staff.
- administrative skills.
