Description

The purpose of the respite service in the home is to provide relief for parents of children and youth with various disabilities in their daily lives, on a one-time basis or regularly. This is done by temporarily supporting the child/youth in their home environment. Through respite, parents are enabled to dedicate time to their own activities during a granted number of hours/occasions.

Job Responsibilities

The caregiver's work is planned based on the needs identified in the caseworker's assessment. You should create safety, joy, and comfort for the person you support. As a caregiver, you work with the child/youth in their home or in the local area. This may involve playing, walking, playing games, crafting, or watching movies. It may also include personal care, dressing and undressing, support during meals, and more.

The work also includes collaboration with parents through regular dialogue and cooperation with the client through ongoing updates.

Before your definitive employment, you will meet the person/people you are intended to support and will also receive an introduction/shadowing.

Qualifications

As you will be working independently, it is required that you are a confident person with a strong work ethic and good communication skills.

A driver's license may be required.

We value if you have one of the following qualifications:

  • Approved high school education from the Child & Leisure Program, Health and Care Program with a focus on disabilities, or trained support assistant.

It is an advantage if you have similar experience or other experience in care work.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities.

What does our recruitment process look like?

  • Selection and interviews are conducted continuously during the application period based on the needs of the operations.
  • You should provide two managerial references, one of which should be your current or most recent manager, or a previous supervisor. If you have no previous work experience, provide one of your teachers as a reference. Remember to contact your references before you enter their contact information.
  • If you have previously been employed by Kungälv Municipality, we will contact your former manager to obtain internal references as part of our recruitment process.
  • For those who are not citizens of the EU/EES area, a work permit is required; this does not apply to those with permanent residence permits. The work permit must be presented at the interview.
