About the Job
We are now looking for a support educator for our accommodation with special services located next to Askimsviken.
Here, eight tenants live, and the target group is individuals with intellectual disabilities/autism. The position is a temporary contract that runs from 15/6-2026 to 30/4-2027.
As a support educator, you are a role model in the pedagogical work to meet the needs of the users and work towards a good quality of life. We are looking for someone who is attracted to the task of working with alternative communication and low-arousal responses. Your role also includes mentoring your colleagues and ensuring the quality of social documentation. The tasks involve everything from creating structure in daily life, motivational work, to guiding and supporting the user.
Together with other staff, you are responsible for creating a qualitative accommodation where the tenant is involved in their life and the community. You collaborate based on individual implementation plans to create as independent a life as possible for our tenants. Since leisure interests and communication are important parts of life, this is something we wish to develop for our users. Part of your role will therefore be to inspire them to try new things and dare to explore. You will work closely with the unit manager so that together we can achieve the goals for those we are here for.
Furthermore, you will be responsible for operational meetings and lead recurring follow-ups and evaluations of responses, attitudes, interventions, and working methods. Together with your colleagues, you will discuss and reflect on yourselves in relation to the user, relatives, and the work team. The purpose of this work is improvement, development, and evaluation. An important part of your role as a support educator is also to work with team collaboration around the user, where you are, for example, the convener for meetings with other professionals, such as nurses, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists.
We offer a job with opportunities for personal responsibility, development, and the chance to make a difference. As support in your role, there is an active support educator network in the city area with regular meetings for development in the role of support educator as well as experience and competence exchange.
The working hours are partly allocated to work closely with the users in combination with pedagogical time. We work day and evening shifts as well as sleeping on-call.
We look forward to receiving your application!
About You
We are looking for someone who has post-secondary specialization in the disability field that includes at least 200 YH points, 120 university credits, or 60 university credits with two years of work experience with people with disabilities. The education should have relevant credits in behavioral science, pedagogy, psychology, social work, and (psychiatric) care or other education that the employer deems equivalent.
For the job, good computer skills and knowledge of social documentation are required. You who apply have experience working in a low-arousal manner as well as alternative and augmentative communication. If you also have experience with the IBIC method (individual needs in focus), it is considered an advantage. We would also like you to have worked with individuals with autism. If you have previous experience working as a support educator or in a similar role, this is an advantage. It is also beneficial if you have experience working in Treserva.
To be able to document, you need to master the Swedish language in speech and writing, which means a requirement for approved grades in Swedish 1, Swedish as a second language 1, or equivalent. Those who do not meet the qualification requirements in Swedish 1 or Swedish as a second language 1 may be offered to take a language test through the testing user Educateit.
