Weekend Staff

Agera Women’s Shelter is expanding its staffing for the protected accommodation and therefore needs extra personnel for weekend work, as well as additional staff as needed.

About Agera

Agera Women’s Shelter is a non-profit organization founded in 2014 and is a member of the national organization Unizon. We work for a society free from violence. Currently, the shelter has 15 employees and about 40 volunteers associated with the organization. Here, women and children are our focus, and we work based on respect for the equal value of all people. Our protected accommodation has space for 10 women with accompanying children. We also offer support conversations for individuals seeking help through our counseling service.

About the Job

We are now looking for 1-2 part-time employees with at least 2 years of experience working with victims of violence at a women’s shelter or other support services, who are not afraid to step in where needed and work practically in the premises.

During weekends, we need staff on-site to be able to support women as needed and provide assistance on various issues. Furthermore, helping with the practical operation of the living environment is crucial for the well-being of the women and children. You should feel comfortable working independently and be prepared to take responsibility for tasks. As an important complement to the operation, you need to have good planning and initiative skills, be attentive, and easily adapt to different people and situations. You should be able to work in a structured manner and drive your work forward based on set goals. The work is results-oriented, focusing on the well-being of women and children. The job places high demands on communication skills and the ability to handle stress in acute situations.

Responsibilities

• Be available in the accommodation to provide support to women as needed
• Documentation of support provided to women
• Handing over information to and communication with colleagues
• The daily operations in the accommodation such as maintenance, laundry, some cleaning (e.g., during move-outs), inventory, etc.
• Practical support for women
• Administrative tasks such as receipt management, compiling statistics, etc.
• Childcare may occur as needed
• Outings with resident women and children may occur as needed
• Receive placements from social services

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience working with the target group of women and children affected by violence
• Experience working at a women’s shelter or other social services
• Relevant education for the tasks such as social pedagogue, treatment assistant, social worker, or equivalent
• Good language skills in Swedish, both spoken and written
• Good computer skills

Meritorious

• Language skills beyond Swedish
• We highly value the ability to work independently and collaborate

Scope: part-time

Working hours: weekends, daytime, and evening
