Are you looking for a meaningful role where you can truly make a difference?
We are now looking for more dedicated employees who want to help shape the future of Värnamo. With us, you will work with a focus on people and create a workday that is valuable both for you and for our citizens.
Description
The Citizen Administration in Värnamo is looking for an additional contracted emergency home that can accommodate 2-3 children in an emergency situation.
The task as a contracted emergency home means that you should be able to receive temporarily placed children and young people at very short notice, any day of the week and at any time of the day. The placement can vary from a few days to several months.
The children and young people who live in emergency homes cannot live at home with their guardians for various reasons and therefore need an emergency home. When a child cannot live at home, they need to be placed in an emergency home, either for a shorter period or while the social services complete an investigation that shows the child's need for possible interventions. After living in an emergency home, the child can either move back to their guardians or, for example, move to a foster home for a long-term placement.
Responsibilities
As an emergency home, you commit to receiving the children that social services assess as needing emergency placement. The task as an emergency home means that you are responsible for the daily care of the child/children and meeting their emotional support needs. You are also responsible for supporting their schooling, participating in leisure activities, and facilitating contact with the child's biological network, among other things.
You will receive support and guidance from the foster home secretaries as well as support and close cooperation with the child's social worker.
As an emergency home, an adult needs to be home full-time to take care of a child/youth or sibling pair in their home.
Qualifications
To be an emergency home, a genuine interest in helping others is required as we work with children and young people who are in urgent need of support. The emergency home should be located in Värnamo municipality or a neighboring municipality. Other qualifications include:
- A commitment to children and young people
- A driver's license and access to a car
- A parent who can be home full-time
- Extra bedrooms available for children in need of placement
The qualities we are looking for in prospective emergency homes are:
- Stable and secure adults
- Good ability to collaborate
- Well integrated into Swedish society
- Interest, time, and commitment to more children
- Good ability to create a safe base for the child
We are looking for you who have space, time, and a strong commitment to open your home to children and young people who need alternative housing for a period.
As a contracted emergency home for Värnamo municipality, you will receive guidance and training in “A Home to Grow In,” which is a basic training for emergency homes and foster homes. The training aims to provide insight and the ability to handle various challenges within the assignment.
The foster home group also needs more temporary emergency homes that take on assignments as emergency homes temporarily, on certain days, weekends, or weeks when regular contracted emergency homes are on vacation. If you feel that you have the opportunity to be an emergency home but cannot be home full-time, the need for temporary emergency homes is significant, so you are welcome to apply even if you cannot be home full-time.
Conditions
To be approved as an emergency home, it is required that you participate in an investigation conducted by the foster home secretaries. The investigation includes interviews, background checks from various authorities, home visits, and reference checks. After the investigation, a decision is made on whether you are suitable to receive children and young people in your home.
As an emergency home, you will receive a contracting fee (similar to a salary) that is paid regardless of whether you have a placement or not. The fee is for the effort you make and is paid monthly, regardless of whether there is a placement or not. Reimbursement for expenses is provided when a child is placed in an emergency home. Emergency homes are contracted for one year with the possibility of extension. Being an emergency home does not mean employment in the municipality, but it is a task performed at the request of the municipality.
