Nurse to the Emergency Department in Skövde – 12-hour shifts, working every third weekend, and 20 extra days off

We are now testing a new schedule in the Emergency Department in Skövde:
12-hour shifts and working every third weekend, which provides 20 extra days off over a 12-week period compared to a traditional schedule. During the summer, you will work every other weekend but still have 20 fewer shifts.

The goal is clear – more time off, better recovery, and a sustainable workday.

You work fewer days – but with full focus when you are here. The same acute pulse. More time for life outside of work.

We have introduced a completely new onboarding program for new employees.

  • 8-10 weeks of structured introduction
  • You shadow according to a clear plan
  • One day a week you are free from clinical work for internal training
  • Theory and practice are integrated continuously

Enhanced competency support

A full-time competency support dedicated to the Emergency Department. Two nurses and one nursing assistant working with simulation and practical training.

We train teamwork, acute situations, and medical scenarios in a safe environment – so you feel secure when it matters.

This is a long-term investment in quality, patient safety, and work environment, and an investment for both the individual and the organization.

About the Emergency Department in Skövde

The Emergency Department operates in modern, bright facilities tailored for the task. We are one of Sweden's largest emergency departments with a potential flow of about 70,000 patients per year.

Here you will find:

  • Dedicated pediatric emergency unit
  • X-ray in direct connection
  • Tasked as one of the region's five trauma hospitals

We meet patients in medicine, surgery, orthopedics, infection, pediatrics, gynecology, ENT, and ophthalmology. The pace varies – from quick patient meetings to advanced acute interventions.

We are looking for you who

  • Are a licensed nurse

Experience in emergency care is an advantage, but we place great importance on personal suitability.

If you are a newly graduated nurse, you will be part of the Clinical Foundation Year, which is our onboarding program. The Clinical Foundation Year is mandatory and lasts for the first year of your employment with us. It includes introduction days, mentoring and training days, as well as observation days. The purpose of the Clinical Foundation Year is to create good conditions for newly graduated nurses to strengthen their theoretical knowledge and practice skills while growing into their new profession.

In the event of recruitment of nurses with foreign qualifications, the position will be preceded by a process to meet the requirements for Swedish licensing.

The selection process and interviews will take place continuously during the application period.
