Your Workplace

Are you a licensed psychologist looking to work in schools with health-promoting and preventive efforts at the individual, group, and organizational levels? Do you want to work with competent and wonderful colleagues and have an accessible manager? Then you should apply to us! You and your colleagues here work together with educators and other student health professionals to ensure that all students feel good, thrive in school, and complete their studies. As a school psychologist, you provide psychological expertise in student health at the schools where you have your assignments. Here, you have good conditions to work with evidence-based methods and contribute to better health and learning for the municipality's students. You collaborate closely and transprofessionally with the members of your student health teams as part of the overall student health at each school. With us, you become part of an ambitious and development-oriented unit, which, in addition to the Psychology Team, consists of two other teams: the Speech Therapy Team and the Attendance Team. The unit is centrally organized with shared office facilities to work from, and most of the work takes place at the schools in direct collaboration with teachers, student health teams, and principals. Here, you and your colleagues support the operations with specialized competencies in child and student health. The unit is characterized by high competence, systematic work, and a spirit of development with the needs of students and operations in focus. We are now expanding the unit with an additional psychologist, covering for psychologists who have taken on other assignments and possibly also need another temporary position for a staff member who is studying.

Härryda Municipality

Härryda Municipality consists of the areas Mölnlycke, Landvetter, Härryda, Hindås, Rävlanda, and Hällingsjö. From central Gothenburg to the central location of Mölnlycke, it is a ten-minute drive, and you can get here in 15 minutes by bus from Korsvägen. The municipality has about 40,000 inhabitants. The proximity to both nature and the city attracts many to settle here. The municipality has a significant influx of families with children and is a child-friendly and expanding part of the Gothenburg region. Approximately 2,700 people work in the municipal administration.

Your Assignment

As a school psychologist, you are part of a central child and student health team and primarily work in health promotion and prevention to support students' development towards educational goals. Together with teachers, principals, and student health colleagues, you identify needs and plan, implement, and evaluate interventions based on your psychological expertise. The work is done at the individual, group, and organizational levels, based on the needs of the operations.

Your main tasks include:

  • Guidance and consultation with observations of students and learning environments.
  • Transprofessional collaboration with other professionals in child and student health, principals, and teachers to promote health and learning and prevent school-related problems.
  • Professional development for educational staff.
  • School psychological assessments and investigations to identify students' needs and contribute to more favorable individual support for students in difficulties.
  • Contributing to the implementation of evidence-based and evidence-informed methods and approaches (for example, methods and interventions based on positive behavioral support/TBA and teaching based on cognitive science).

It may also include conducting individual support interventions with students, for example, in cases of problematic school absenteeism or school-related mental health issues. You document your individual interventions according to health and medical care legislation in the journal system Prorenata. The principals lead the student health work at the schools, and you will collaborate closely with the school's staff and other student health professionals.

The Psychology Team

The Psychology Team meets every week for joint work on operational, development, and patient safety issues. The Psychologically Responsible Leader (PLA) is tasked with leading and supporting the work on processes and routines regarding health and medical care interventions. Here, you will be part of a team with both experienced and newer psychology colleagues. Here, you can make a difference, have fun, and develop!
