About us

The Urology department provides urological healthcare to residents in Greater Gothenburg, including Mölndal, and has overall responsibility for the entire Västra Götaland region.

We have national assignments and perform robotic surgery. Within urology at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, we work with conditions affecting the urinary tract in both women and men. This includes a wide range of diagnoses, such as urinary incontinence, neurogenic bladder disorders, kidney stones, and various forms of urological cancer. In total, approximately 2,600 patients are cared for annually in inpatient care, and we receive about 20,000 patient visits at the urology outpatient clinic. Each year, around 1,300 surgeries are performed.

About the position

We are looking for a licensed nurse for a combined position as an operations coordinator and admission nurse. You will collaborate with two other operations coordinators, doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, the manager, and administrative staff at the Urology outpatient clinic.

50% Admission Nurse at the Clinic

• Clinic with preoperative admissions of patients prior to urological surgeries.
• Provide information and prepare patients for surgery.
• Review the patient's health declaration and medical history.
• Possible sampling and checks according to routine.
• Coordination with the admitting physician and relevant units.
• Documentation.

In this role, you will have a leading nursing responsibility for the admission clinic.

50% Operations Coordinator

• The work involves coordinating urological surgeries in outpatient and inpatient care.
• Contact with patients prior to surgery via various communication channels.
• Coordination with surgeons, care departments, operating rooms, and other relevant parties.
• Ensure an efficient surgical flow based on medical prioritization.
• Management of waiting lists.

About you

We are looking for a licensed nurse. You should have good administrative skills and enjoy coordinating tasks. You have the ability to remain calm and maintain an overview even during periods of high tempo and rapid changes. As a person, you are structured, independent, and solution-oriented, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

You have good communication skills and a positive attitude. You thrive in teamwork and have good collaboration skills. You are also interested in participating in improvement work.

Experience in urology, surgical planning, or admission of surgical patients is an advantage.

If you are a newly graduated nurse, you will be part of the Clinical Foundation Year, which is our introductory program. The Clinical Foundation Year is mandatory and lasts for the first year of your employment with us. It includes lectures, nursing supervision, and practical training in your profession at the Simulator Center. In addition, it also includes service in at least two different departments to broaden your competence.
