Team Leader for the Children and Youth Unit

The Children and Youth Unit consists of about 40 employees, including one unit manager, two deputy unit managers, and four team leaders. Organizationally, the unit belongs to the Child and Family Section, which is part of the Department of Education and Child Services. The section has experienced positive development in recent years, with intensive work on competence supply and working environment. In our pursuit of sustainability and a good balance between private and work life, we have implemented changes to create more time for work environment efforts. We continuously work to maintain a healthy workload.

An important part of the work is collaboration between units within the section as well as with, for example, schools, regions, and student health. One ongoing development project is Together for Every Child. Within this framework, Falu municipality invests in early and preventive measures where social services play an important role in ensuring that children receive the right help at the right time.

Job Responsibilities

As a team leader, you are a crucial part of the work concerning the authority's exercise regarding children and youth. You distribute cases, act as a sounding board and method support, and lead the daily work for the 8-10 employees in your team. You are part of a local management group together with the unit manager, deputy unit managers, and the other three team leaders. As a team leader, you also provide support on various issues to the unit manager and actively participate in collaboration and contribute to the development of the operations within the section.

Qualifications

The role requires:

  • A degree in social work or at least a three-year university degree that meets the eligibility requirements according to the regulation HSLF-FS 2017:79
  • Extensive experience in authority exercise concerning children and youth
  • Very good communication skills in Swedish, both spoken and written

As a team leader in children and youth, you need to have a strong focus on problem-solving and work systematically with a clear orientation towards common results. It comes naturally to you to make things happen, take responsibility, and ensure that the work maintains high quality and contributes to safety for both children and employees. You plan and prioritize methodically, are rational and analytical in your approach, and allocate resources effectively.

You quickly adapt to changing conditions and build trusting relationships by being attentive, stable, and present in your leadership. By collaborating closely with the team, sharing knowledge, and actively delegating, coaching, and supporting, you contribute to both employee development and a safe working environment. Clear and open communication is central to your leadership style and creates engagement, participation, and direction.

Employment Conditions

The position is a permanent full-time employment starting as agreed.
