Praktiska Gymnasiet in Växjö offers students a concept where theory is combined with practical exercises both in school and on workplaces. At Praktiska, we set high standards for ourselves to create the best conditions for an educational and enjoyable training. Our teaching is characterized by flexibility, closeness, and practical learning. Our program offerings consist of: BA, EE, FS, FT, IN, and VF programs. We also offer vocational packages for care and support. Currently, the school has about 180 students and just over 20 staff members.

We are now looking for a school counselor at 50%

In your role as a counselor at Praktiska Gymnasiet, you will work closely with students, guardians, and staff. You will work on health-promoting and preventive efforts at the group and organizational level and collaborate with other actors such as the region, municipality, and other school units.

In your work, you will meet students where you conduct motivational and crisis conversations as well as advisory and investigative discussions. You will also contribute knowledge about the support systems in society. As a school counselor, you are part of the organization's and school's work with values and equal treatment. You will be part of the school's student health team together with the principal, special educator, school nurse, and study and career counselor.

About you

We are looking for someone with a degree in social work or similar. You have excellent knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written, and you have experience in documentation. You have experience working with teenagers and dealing with mental health issues. Previous work as a counselor is an advantage, as is experience working with high school-aged youth.

It is important that you have a holistic perspective on the youth's learning and development. You need to have the ability to create good relationships with both youth and adults. You see great value in working together with different professional competencies. We are looking for someone who is attentive, clear, and communicative. Personal suitability is of utmost importance.

In addition, Praktiska Gymnasiet also offers internal training for newly hired non-certified teachers and has an ongoing collaboration with various national higher education institutions that offer further education for teachers (VAL) to support our teachers in becoming certified.
