GN&C Engineer at Saab

Are you an experienced engineer looking to contribute solutions for the missile systems of the future? Join our growing team in the technical areas of "Guidance", "Navigation", "Control", and "Mission management".

Your Role

As a GN&C engineer, you will play a vital role in the development of state-of-the-art guidance, navigation, and control systems for our advanced missile systems. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the performance and reliability of our leading missile systems.

We are on an exciting growth journey, investing heavily in capacity increases, facilities, and our personnel through continuous learning, where both tasks and responsibilities are adapted to your development and interests.

We currently have three sections responsible for Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C). Two of these are in Linköping and one in Karlskoga. You will belong to the Karlskoga section.

The functions within GN&C's responsibilities are central to the behavior of our products and interact across multiple systems. You will receive challenging and developmental tasks with great opportunities to build a broad network with skilled engineers and gain insight into several adjacent areas. We work in all phases of development, from early concept studies, demonstrators, challenging function development, all the way to final verification of customer requirements.

Your Tasks Will Include:

  • Performing system analysis and design
  • Developing and simulating control systems
  • Implementing navigation and mission planning algorithms
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of our working methods

Your Profile

We are looking for motivated and experienced engineers with a passion for navigation, control, and modeling who enjoy solving complex problems.

To succeed in your role, you need to build relationships and understand the need to be creative by communicating, initiating, and managing changes. You thrive in the company of others and are not afraid to ask when you need information. Likewise, we see that you can work more independently to solve your tasks when necessary. You also find it important to contribute to a good working climate and a strong team spirit, something we value highly.

We Believe You Have:

  • A Master's degree in engineering or equivalent competence, with a focus on one or more of the areas of control engineering, signal processing, optimization, aerospace engineering, and space technology.
  • Good communication skills in both spoken and written Swedish and English.
  • Experience in system development, modeling, and simulation in military and/or civilian aviation applications or from the automotive industry.

It Is Also Desirable If You Have:

  • Experience in function development within control systems, preferably from applications in autonomous and/or flying vehicles.
  • Experience in the navigation field, both practically and theoretically. Preferably experience that includes hardware and measurement test campaigns, advanced statistical signal processing for post-processing measurement data, and function development of algorithms.
  • Experience as a team/project leader.

The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the applicable regulations for security protection. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may entail requirements for certain citizenship.

What You Will Be Part Of

Behind our innovations are all those who have made it possible. Brave pioneers and clever thinkers. Everyday heroes and creative problem solvers. Those who share deep knowledge and those who explore new areas. And everyone in between.

Here you have the chance to influence and contribute in your unique way. From developing code and building impressive defense and security solutions to having coffee with a colleague. Every contribution counts. We give you the opportunity to take on challenges and create smart innovations. In our friendly and tech-savvy world, there is room for you to grow. We are here to create safety for people and communities together.

Saab is a leading defense and security company with a mission to help nations protect their populations and contribute to the safety of people and communities. With 26,100 talented employees, Saab develops technology and solutions for a safer and more sustainable world.

Saab develops, manufactures, and maintains advanced systems in aerospace, weapons, command and control systems, sensors, and underwater systems. Saab has its headquarters in Sweden but operates globally, where Saab is part of many nations' defense capabilities.
