Care Assistant in Dementia Care

Jönköping Municipality is a major employer with hundreds of different job roles. We are growing in line with the municipality's development with more residents, more housing, and a larger range of services. We are always on the lookout for new skills - employees with diverse backgrounds and experiences, united by the common drive to create a better municipality to visit, live, work, and reside in.

Are you an experienced and dedicated care assistant in dementia care? Would you like to contribute your dementia knowledge and commitment to help develop even more person-centered care and support with us at Öxnebacka?

Your New Job

The majority of your work as a care assistant involves direct care and support for the residents.

Your work entails providing person-centered care in all aspects necessary for the resident to feel secure and live as meaningful and normal a life as possible. This includes assisting residents with hygiene, dressing, meals, and offering companionship, activities, and walks. Other tasks include following jointly established routines such as making orders, setting tables, serving food, and handling dishes, laundry, replenishing supplies, administering medications, and accompanying residents to, for example, the dentist when needed. In all these areas, residents should be involved and activated as much as possible to promote their functional ability.

Your work also includes providing family support and palliative care and support in the final stages of life. The job involves various forms of reporting, documentation, case management, advocacy work, and preparing for regular team meetings and workplace meetings.

The work also includes systematic work with both Senior Alert and the BPSD registry. You will administer medications and certain other interventions on delegation from a nurse, carry out some rehabilitation interventions on delegation from an occupational therapist/physiotherapist, and continuously report and evaluate the operations both verbally and in writing together with colleagues, unit managers, and nurses.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a trained care assistant and has experience working in dementia care. A specialist education as a care assistant in dementia and/or experience working with the BPSD registry is advantageous. We value personal maturity and place great importance on personal suitability.

You are a structured person with good judgment to understand other people, which is reflected in your work. In your work, you adopt a health-promoting approach, which means you focus on the healthy aspects and can see the whole picture and the opportunities and resources available to each citizen. You are service-oriented and have an interest in the citizen and their life story. In this way, you also create good relationships with those you serve in your work.

Since the job involves contacts with citizens, relatives, and colleagues, as well as documentation, we expect you to have excellent skills in the Swedish language in speaking, reading comprehension, and writing. You should be able to actively participate in training/information at workplace meetings and be able to absorb information both verbally and in writing. You need to have very good computer skills as we work both with a mobile working method and at the computer in the office.

Desirable Qualifications

BPSD administrator, training in low-arousal approaches.
