SIFA, Stockholm Intensive Swedish for Academics, is one of the schools at Komvux Södermalm.

At Komvux Södermalm, Stockholmers are offered a physical place where different parts of adult education come together: SFI, basic and upper secondary adult education, vocational training, study and career guidance, and support functions. Here you get the opportunity for a developing job and to be involved in the development of tomorrow's Stockholm. You are offered a centrally located workplace in Södermalm.

At SIFA, we offer students intensive training in Swedish as a second language. Students study in cohesive groups with fixed course lengths, both within SFI and within Swedish as a second language. We offer different orientations depending on the students' previous professional backgrounds. Three of our programs are so-called SFX aimed at students with an academic degree in a range of fields, such as social scientists, economists, engineers, and educators. Based on increased student numbers, we are now expanding our operations and looking for two teachers with competence and a strong interest in teaching Swedish as a second language in the classroom.

Your role

The position is part of the SIFA unit, and your teaching will primarily be conducted within SFX, but may also be conducted within the Intensive studies in Swedish program. Teaching at the SFI level as well as in Swedish as a second language at basic and upper secondary levels may also be relevant.

The work includes the usual tasks of a teacher such as:

• Planning, conducting, and evaluating teaching
• Grading
• Adapting teaching to students' needs
• Participating in the school's development work
• Collaborating with colleagues and other professionals
• Using digital tools in teaching
• Conducting student-centered teaching
• Documenting and following up on students' progress

Teaching is scheduled both during the day and in the evening and can take place both in the classroom and remotely. As a teacher, you will teach and support adult students in their learning by using innovative and inclusive pedagogical methods.

Your competence and experience

Teacher's degree with qualifications in:

• SFI and Swedish as a second language
• Experience in adult education
• Experience and good knowledge of using digital tools in teaching

To be considered for the position, you need to have teaching qualifications and certification in Swedish as a second language with 90 credits in SVA. Please also attach your teaching certification to your application. You should also have experience in teaching within adult education, a good pedagogical insight into adult learning, and good digital competence used to support and challenge students in their learning. It is an advantage if you have professional experience or education in any of our SFX industry areas; engineer, architect, economist, lawyer, or social scientist.

As a person, you are goal- and results-oriented. You are interested and engaged in teaching and students' learning. You possess very good collaborative skills. You are also committed and innovative and work systematically on developing your teaching and are open to different perspectives. You are eager to learn and are flexible, adapting to new conditions, and actively working on problem-solving and providing constructive suggestions to improve teaching. You are self-sufficient as a teacher and are used to driving and contributing to development work related to the operations. We place great importance on personal suitability, where flexibility, commitment, and collaboration skills are particularly significant!
