Workplace Description

The research group for breast and lung cancer operates at Medicion Village, alongside other groups belonging to Lund University Cancer Center.

The group's research focuses on improving the molecular understanding of breast and lung cancer and translating research findings into clinical diagnostics. By characterizing the genomic, transcriptional, and DNA methylation landscape in different subgroups of tumors, both in our own and public cohorts, we seek new molecular subgroups of potential clinical relevance, additional targets for synergistic treatment, prognostic and/or predictive markers.

We are a diverse group with various backgrounds in molecular biology, medicine, bioinformatics, working interdisciplinary and closely with the clinic. We have partners both nationally and internationally and strive for a research environment that is enriching, open, and creative.

We are now looking for a project assistant at 100% between April 16 and June 15, 2026.

We Offer

  • Mapping the role of target genes in tumorigenic processes by studying these in relevant cancer cell lines.
  • Mapping cellular interactions and underlying molecular mechanisms.
  • Managing clinical samples.

You will work with methods such as general cell culture and functional assays, siRNA experiments, CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing, as well as RNA/DNA/protein assays. The role also includes responsibility for some laboratory organization and administrative tasks. Other tasks within the role may be added.

Qualifications

Requirements for the position are:

  • Master's degree in molecular biology.
  • Experience in cell culture.
  • Experience working with tumor organoids.
  • Experience in cancer-related research.
  • Ability to plan experiments, work independently, and keep accurate records.
  • Good collaboration and communication skills.
  • Very good knowledge of English, both spoken and written.

Meritorious:

  • Practical experience with siRNA experiments and other gene modulation methods.
  • Broad experience with functional assays in the context of cell culture.
  • Good knowledge and practical experience of basic molecular methods for RNA/protein expression.
  • Good knowledge of lung cancer.

Other

The position is a SÄVA (special fixed-term employment) at 100% during the period from April 16 to June 15, 2026. The desired start date is April 16, 2026, or by agreement.
