The area of Intensive and Perioperative Care in Malmö (VO IPV Malmö) at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) provides highly specialized anesthesia, surgical care, pre- and postoperative care, and intensive care. The operations include anesthesia for general and colorectal surgery, pediatric surgery, gynecological and obstetric surgery, hand surgery, vascular surgery, orthopedics, plastic surgery, urology, and ear-nose-throat surgery. We provide general intensive care as well as postoperative intermediate care with ten ICU beds and two IMC beds. We are also responsible for Sus's sterile technical operations in Malmö and work with advanced pain management. Approximately 650 employees work at IPV Malmö, including about 80 doctors.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for two licensed physicians for VO IPV with a start date in the autumn of 2026. Working with us means a challenging, developing, and rewarding job in an exciting and varied work environment. The positions are two six-month contracts, with the possibility of extension.

We care about ensuring that you, as a new employee, feel comfortable with us and settle into your role in the best possible way. You will be offered an individual introduction tailored to your previous experiences and competencies. In your role as a junior doctor, you will rotate between our different units with the aim of preparing for on-call work. All employees involved in on-call duties are essential to our operations.

In addition to clinical duties, there is an opportunity to participate in courses and training days. Our goal is that, after completing your introduction, you continue with us as a resident physician, thereby completing your specialist training in anesthesia and intensive care. This includes approximately 36 months of service in anesthesia and 24 months of service in intensive care. The residency training also includes service in Lund, where other parts of Region Skåne's highly specialized care are primarily conducted, such as upper gastrointestinal and endocrine surgery, major tumor surgery in ear, nose, and throat and gynecological surgery, eye surgery, jaw surgery, and oncological radiation therapy, as well as special anesthesia for pediatric surgery, neurosurgery, and thoracic surgery.

QUALIFICATIONS

We welcome you as a licensed physician with the authority to work within Swedish healthcare. Language skills in Swedish at least at level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale are required. You are ready to start Swedish residency training, meaning you have completed Swedish AT or BT. We would like you to have experience in anesthesia and intensive care or other relevant experience in specialties that handle acute conditions, as well as academic and pedagogical merits.

We are looking for someone with a genuine commitment and interest in anesthesia and intensive care. To succeed in the role, it is important that you have good clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and can convey knowledge or messages clearly and pedagogically. You are a natural collaborator in the team around the patient and have an interest in development, education, and research. We also value your ability to handle acute situations, where you remain calm and can quickly adapt your working methods to changing circumstances. Personal suitability will be given great importance.

To understand the requirements placed on physicians in anesthesia and intensive care, it is important that you have read the National Board of Health and Welfare's goal description for the specialty and the training book on the Swedish Society for Anesthesia and Intensive Care's website (SFAI.se).

In this recruitment, we apply continuous selection. We warmly welcome your application today!
