Hospital Physicist and Dosimetrist for Radiation Therapy Physics
REGION SKÅNE 26 days left
to apply for the job
Make a difference. Every day.
At the radiation therapy physics unit, all hospital physicists in the region, dosimetrists, and accelerator engineers are employed. The unit consists of approximately 45 employees and manages a fleet of a total of 13 devices for external radiation therapy, including models from Varian (TrueBeam), Elekta (Precise), Accuray (Radixact), and Xstrahl (200 kV orthovoltage). Furthermore, we have dual lines for brachytherapy (Elekta Flexitron) and two dedicated CT (Siemens Definition AS+) and MR (GE Discovery 750w 3T). Installation of a new MR-Linac from Elekta (Unity) is underway. Proton treatments are also provided through the Skandion Clinic (Uppsala) within our own operations.
We provide the operation with our expertise regarding everything related to radiation and preparations for treatments. We also have a close collaboration with Lund University, both regarding basic education and research. Tasks may also occur within other units in the field: radiology/MR and nuclear medicine, which also includes cyclotron production of radiopharmaceuticals. Our operations have a strong research focus and include a robust AI/ML team. Therefore, we welcome an interest in research and development. There are great opportunities for development work within the unit, where new technologies such as MR in radiation therapy, surface scanning, flash treatment, 3D printing, and tracking during radiation therapy are areas we are working on.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
We are now seeking staff (dosimetrists and hospital physicists) for work involving preparation, planning, and delivery of radiation therapy, primarily on our new MR-linac (MRL).
You will primarily have clinical responsibilities within hospital physics and dosimetry, where automation and optimization of patient plans are also included as part of the role.
Teaching students and staff is a natural part of the job responsibilities. A large part of the ongoing treatment operations consists of teamwork, where you, together with nurses, doctors, engineers, and other staff in our field, strive to provide our patients with the highest quality radiation therapy.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for you who are a licensed hospital physicist with authorization to work within Swedish healthcare or you who are a licensed nurse with authorization to work within Swedish healthcare with further education in oncology. If you have other qualifications or equivalent education that we assess as comparable and suitable for performing dosimetry work, that may also be of interest. Proficiency in Swedish at least at level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s scale is a requirement.
Experience working as a hospital physicist or dosimetrist is meritorious, as well as in related areas such as oncology nursing/hospital physics with a focus on radiation therapy. It is advantageous if you can express yourself well in spoken and written English. Additionally, a PhD, project management, leadership experience, and radiation therapy-specific training are considered meritorious.
We want you to be analytical, have high integrity, and good collaboration skills. To thrive with us, you should be able to work in a structured manner and have the ability to take responsibility for your work. We hope you have a high degree of flexibility, good documentation skills, and the ability to see the big picture. Furthermore, you are proactive and possess good social skills. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
In this recruitment, we apply continuous selection. We warmly welcome your application today!
