At Gävle Midwifery Clinic, we provide care and support for women throughout eastern Gästrikland, from maternal health care and contraceptive counseling to gynecological health checks. We are proud to be Sweden's largest midwifery clinic in maternal health care, where every day is about making a difference for women, youth, and families. Here, 19 experienced midwives work alongside two nursing assistants in a development-oriented and stimulating environment. The operation also includes Gävle Youth Clinic, with four midwives and one nursing assistant, as well as midwives placed at Andersberg, Sätra, and Ockelbo family centers.

At the Delivery Unit in Gävle, you will have the opportunity to make a difference for parents and their newborns every day. We handle approximately 1400 deliveries per year in a modern environment with six delivery rooms, three outpatient rooms, and three antenatal places. We are a dedicated team that ensures you have the best conditions to perform your work, with a coordinator on all day shifts providing support and structure.

We value your professional development and offer a structured rotation program where you work both in the delivery unit and within midwifery/family health. The rotation service allows you to develop your skills in both emergency and planned care and to follow women and families through different stages. Day, evening, and possible night shifts are included in the position.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

At the midwifery clinic, you as a midwife will have the opportunity to meet women and families at different stages of life, contributing to health and well-being through both individual support and group activities. You will work independently and in a team with preventive health care, pregnancy checks, parenting advice, contraceptive counseling, and gynecological health care.

At the delivery unit, you will work to provide every pregnant woman with the best possible experience during childbirth. We strive for high presence and to always have two midwives present during the delivery phase, while actively working to minimize separations and ensure family cohesion. Our close collaboration with the neonatal department makes us a team that truly focuses on the patient's needs.

In your role as a midwife in the delivery unit, you will work with:

• managing both normal and high-risk deliveries in close collaboration with doctors and nursing assistants
• providing antenatal care and outpatient care of high quality
• delivering care where you support the woman and her partner for a safe and secure delivery
• mentoring and developing others in the profession
• performing documentation, CTG interpretation, and reporting directly at the bedside
• working with telephone counseling to provide support to our patients.

As a midwife at the midwifery clinic, you will work with:

• health care related to pregnancy, including medical base programs, fetal diagnostics, health information during pregnancy, and psychosocial work
• providing support in parenting and parenting groups with childbirth and parental preparation
• family planning on an individual level, including contraceptive counseling and STI prevention
• gynecological cervical screening to prevent cervical cancer
• public health work and discussions about lifestyle issues.

QUALIFICATIONS

To thrive in the role of midwife with us, you need to be someone who takes responsibility, remains calm, and acts proactively in various situations. You work closely with both patients and colleagues, and it is important that you can collaborate effectively in a team to provide the best possible care. A responsive and understanding attitude towards both women and their families is crucial for creating a safe and supportive atmosphere. You should also have a strong desire to provide high-quality care and always strive to exceed patient expectations.

For this role, you should be:

• a licensed midwife.

It is an advantage if you have delivery experience.
