The Transport Department (TA) is tasked with transporting and supervising individuals deprived of their liberty. These are clients of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service who are moved between remand prisons and correctional facilities, to court hearings, and hospitals, among other places. JOB DESCRIPTION

As a correctional officer, you will be part of a team where everyone is responsible for different roles in the execution of client transports. You will encounter a wide variety of clients of different ages, backgrounds, and experiences. You will conduct searches, apply restraints, and supervise the client during transport.

The mission of the Transport Department is varied, which means that your working hours can change from day to day. Evening, night, and weekend work may be included. The times in the schedule are frame times, usually 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Nationally, it is more common to finish before the frame time ends, and in most cases, you will have a consistent start time. Frame time means that the employer can change the start and end times. Changes are communicated before the previous shift ends. Working hours are adjusted, and if you work more than planned, you will receive overtime compensation. If you work less, you will still receive your normal salary.

Before you start with us, you will receive an introduction so that you feel secure in your new role. You will work in a team with regular staff where you will together carry out and plan the tasks of the workday.

The introduction lasts for two weeks during weeks 24-25. Some flexibility regarding the introduction may be available.

For the Transport Department, the vacation period extends from week 26 to week 34, with the possibility of extra work before and after the summer period for those who wish.

QUALIFICATIONS

As a correctional officer, you need to be clear, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. To thrive and succeed in your role, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and the belief that people can develop. You will become part of a safe and engaged work community where cooperation, responsibility, and respect are central values. You need to have a good physical foundation to handle a sedentary job and to act physically when required.

We are looking for someone who has:

• A completed upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant
• Work experience, including seasonal work, hourly employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not equivalent to employment.
• Good ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in Swedish
• Good computer skills
• A B driver's license and good driving experience

It is meritorious if you have:

• Work experience in relevant fields, such as corrections, security work, and service professions
• Education in relevant fields, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law
• Relevant language skills
