About our open position

We are now looking for nursing assistants, caregivers, and pediatric nurses for SÄS this summer. Care at the hospital is provided around the clock, which means you may work days, evenings, nights, and weekends. The SÄS summer period extends from week 23 to week 35, and to best plan and implement our summer positions, we value that you can work eight consecutive weeks during this time.

As a nursing assistant, you will care for and treat different patient groups depending on the department. You will be close to the patient in your work, which requires understanding and interest in people. Daily tasks will include patient checks such as measuring blood pressure, checking temperature, and taking certain samples.

As a caregiver, your work involves caring for and treating patients suffering from mental health issues by supporting and motivating them to manage their daily lives. You need to handle various emotional expressions from patients and feel comfortable listening, setting boundaries, and resolving conflicts. Depending on the area, you will work with patients who may have depression, personality disorders, psychotic illnesses, and substance abuse issues.

As a pediatric nurse, you will care for and treat children and adolescents up to 18 years old. We work from a holistic perspective with children and their relatives at the center, which requires empathy and understanding of different situations. Preparing children for examinations and treatments is part of the job, ensuring that children and their relatives feel involved and secure.

In all specialties, you will work as a nursing assistant/caregiver/pediatric nurse in a team with other nursing assistants and professional groups.

Your profile

We are looking for someone who is educated or is a student as follows:

• Nursing assistant in care and nursing, or you will complete your education by June 2026
• Nursing student who has completed at least four semesters of the nursing program by June 2026
• Medical student who has completed at least six semesters of the medical program by June 2026

Work experience in healthcare is an advantage, and we prefer that you have experience working with specialized care in a hospital. It is also advantageous if you can work eight consecutive weeks during our summer period, preferably weeks 25 – 32.

We place great importance on personal suitability and expect you to be responsible and have good collaboration skills since the work involves both teamwork and independent tasks. We value a kind approach towards patients and relatives.

To provide our patients with good and safe care, it is important that our employees have good language skills and the ability to communicate effectively in Swedish.

Information about the title nursing assistant

As of July 1, 2023, the title nursing assistant became a protected professional title. This means you need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title nursing assistant, or you can present a service certificate showing that you had a permanent position as a nursing assistant before the new regulations came into effect on July 1, 2023, and that you are thus covered by the transitional regulations.

While waiting for proof from the National Board of Health and Welfare (or service certificate) or if you are studying for another healthcare profession, the title care assistant will apply.
