Here you will lead and develop a payroll function in transition within a stable and growing business in public transport. You will drive both operational payroll management and strategic development. At Bergkvara, you will build on an experienced payroll organization and take it to the next level through structure, development, and clear leadership. You will combine operational responsibility with strategic development and work with quality assurance, analysis, and improvement of processes, systems, and methods.

You will be a key person in the interface between HR, finance, IT, and operations, where your ability to see patterns, draw conclusions, and translate insights into concrete improvements makes a real difference. There is a mandate to drive digitization, efficiency, and new working methods, including AI and automation.

Your tasks

As Payroll Manager, you have overall responsibility for the payroll function, which also means that you will operationally drive and carry out your own payroll runs and lead an experienced team.

You will:

  • Lead, distribute, and develop work within the payroll department.
  • Ensure correct and efficient payroll management for collective employees and executives.
  • Interpret and apply several complex collective agreements, such as the transport and executive agreements.
  • Be the system owner for HR+ and drive system development and digitization.
  • Work with process improvement, automation, and AI in the payroll area.
  • Ensure reporting to authorities and compliance with labor law, tax, and GDPR.
  • Support the business in questions regarding salary, pension, and compensation and benefits.
  • Contribute with analysis and follow-up of personnel-related costs.

Worth knowing

The position is based in Kalmar. The team consists of 7 people, mainly located in Kalmar, with some presence in Stockholm. The role reports to the CFO.

Bergkvara operates in public transport with several modes of transport and has a geographically dispersed organization. Travel in the job occurs, but you plan them yourself. Hybrid work is applied, but initially, high presence in the office is important.

Our expectations

We are looking for someone with several years of experience in a leadership role, such as payroll manager, team leader, or senior payroll consultant with coordination responsibility. You have experience in qualified payroll work and a good understanding of complex collective agreements. You have worked in payroll and HR systems, preferably HR+, and feel comfortable in system ownership and digital tools. We also appreciate experience in change management, process development, and digitization.

You have good knowledge of Swedish and English and an understanding of labor law, tax legislation, and GDPR.

As a person, you are structured, meticulous, and have high integrity. You are a confident and clear leader who creates engagement and participation, dares to make decisions, and has the courage to challenge existing working methods. You are curious about new technology and see opportunities with AI and automation.
