JOB DESCRIPTION

As a sustainability strategist, you will work jointly between Vimmerby municipality and Vimmerby Energi & Miljö AB, with placement at both workplaces. You will play a central role in driving and developing long-term sustainability efforts to strengthen a sustainable community structure and contribute to the global goals of Agenda 2030.

You will be responsible for coordinating, developing, and following up on sustainability issues with a focus on ecologically sustainable community and business development. You will support the municipality's administrations and companies in integrating sustainability goals and climate strategies into their operations and contribute to creating structure and progress in the joint sustainability efforts.

In the role of sustainability strategist, you will be responsible for:

• Developing and implementing strategies, action plans, and guidelines to strengthen ecological sustainability efforts and drive work related to Agenda 2030 and the integration of global goals into the organization's processes.
• Working to reduce climate impact, strengthen biodiversity, and develop ecosystem services while contributing to the transition to a fossil-free future in collaboration with relevant actors.
• Conducting analyses, environmental monitoring, and follow-up on sustainability goals.
• Acting as an internal advisor in projects and decision-making processes and providing support in sustainable procurement, environmental assessments, and impact analyses.
• Coordinating and leading networks, working groups, and dialogues with internal and external actors.
• Designing and implementing overarching sustainability strategies and integrating sustainability into business processes and supply chains, including follow-up on procurements and contracts.
• Supporting and ensuring quality in sustainability reporting by contributing with follow-up, analyses, and documentation related to the organization's sustainability goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

• A university degree in environmental science, sustainable development, urban planning, or equivalent.
• Experience in strategic environmental or sustainability work, preferably within the public sector.
• A good understanding of ecological sustainability issues such as climate adaptation, biodiversity, circular economy, and environmental management.
• Experience working with Agenda 2030 or other sustainability frameworks.
• The ability to lead processes and analyze complex relationships.
• The ability to drive change and implement strategies in practice.

Meritorious

• Experience in strategic sustainability work within energy companies or municipal operations.
• Experience in procurement and supplier management.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

In the role, it is required that you are analytical, proactive, and have a strong desire to create change. You enjoy translating visions into concrete actions and creating engagement both internally and externally. In addition, you have a structured working style and strong communication skills. You drive your work forward in a self-directed and solution-oriented manner and find it easy to build relationships through a responsive and relationship-building approach.
