If you proceed in the process, the Malmö Probation Service will hold an information meeting on March 31st between 18-19 for more information about the position. Interviews are expected to start in week 15.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a probation officer, you will be responsible for conditionally released clients who are under supervision as well as clients sentenced to probation. You will manage your own cases and will have conversations and client contact in your daily work. The probation service is also responsible for intensive supervision with electronic monitoring, known as an ankle monitor, community service, youth supervision, and clients serving time in prison. The work within probation includes conducting risk and needs assessments and establishing plans for implementation.

In this role, you will actively participate in influencing work directed at clients through structured case management conversations based on the KRIMSTICS method, which combines structured risk assessments with a conversation method based on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Your responsibilities will also include conducting personal investigations and providing opinions to the court and suggesting appropriate penalties, which means that documentation, handling of misconduct, and administration are part of the job in addition to client conversations.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a structured manner based on legislation, is comfortable in client-facing work that involves both many and long-term conversations where you work with evidence-based interventions to prevent recidivism and exercise authority. You are secure, stable, and have a good understanding of how people absorb knowledge and adapt your way of conveying messages based on the recipient's conditions. In your professional practice, you have good judgment, integrity, and a structured approach. As a probation officer, you need to have good collaboration skills and be able to communicate clearly. You should also have a physical condition that allows you to act physically if the situation requires it.

We are looking for someone who has:

• A university degree (at least bachelor's level), preferably in social work, behavioral science, criminology, or law, or other academic education combined with experience deemed relevant by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
• Good ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish

It is an advantage if you have:

• Well-regarded work experience in corrections, social care, psychiatry, or healthcare and social work
• Experience in exercising authority
• Experience in investigative work
• Experience in documentation and case management
• Experience in security work
• Relevant language skills
• Driving license B
