After-School Teacher at Gröndal School in Nynäshamn

As an After-School Teacher with us in Nynäshamn at Gröndal School, you will help create a safe, fun, and educational school day for our students – every day. You will plan, lead, and follow up on activities that stimulate children's curiosity, creativity, and social development. Together with engaged colleagues, you will build a holistic approach to the students' day, both in after-school care and school.

Job Responsibilities

As an after-school teacher, you will plan, implement, and evaluate educational activities that stimulate students' learning and development. You will participate in development work related to the after-school care's mission and governing documents. You will work closely with classroom teachers in your team to create a clear connection between school time and leisure time, where the students' entire day is meaningfully connected. In this role, you will have a particular focus on strengthening students' social skills, independence, and safety. You will actively contribute to creating an inclusive and trusting climate where every student feels seen, acknowledged, and significant. You will also be involved in the development work of after-school care and drive the pedagogical work forward in line with the curriculum's intentions and the organization's goals.

The main task of the Children and Education Administration is to offer a safe and stimulating learning environment where we prepare students and youth for the future. We also work to promote access to cultural and leisure activities for all residents.

Gröndal School is a K-9 school with approximately 920 students and 120 staff members. The school's educators are divided into teams and subject groups. The school also has a student health team that includes all professions. After-school teachers are part of teams for grades F-3 and 4-6.

What We Are Looking For

To succeed in this role, you have:

  • at least three years of post-secondary education as an after-school teacher or leisure educator
  • experience in planning and leading groups of children aged F–6
  • good knowledge of the school's governing documents and the mission of after-school care
  • knowledge of the current curriculum (Lgr 22) and how it is implemented in after-school care
  • very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.

It is advantageous if you have:

  • certification as a teacher for after-school care
  • at least one year of experience working in after-school care
  • experience of collaboration between after-school care and primary school
  • experience working in municipal operations
  • experience working with extra adaptations and inclusion in the student group.
