Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions.
We work for everyone living here today and in the future. We are now looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.
Workplace Description
Are you passionate about seeing students develop and have experience in classroom teaching? Then you can apply to the substitute pool of Stockholm's municipal schools.
Your employment is linked to the staffing unit at the education administration in Stockholm, which is responsible for staffing and operation of the substitute pool for Stockholm's municipal schools. As a substitute teacher with us, you will have a fixed-term employment with the opportunity to primarily work within our municipal primary schools. You are not guaranteed work; it is determined by the schools' need for substitutes and how much you can work.
Your Work
The work is varied and fun but also responsible as you are often the sole person in charge of the classroom. Your work experience, education, abilities, and skills will determine in which activities and subjects you will have the opportunity to teach. Based on the schools' needs and in consultation with you, the staffing unit will decide which areas you are available to work in. It is a flexible job where you set your availability for the days and times you can work in a web-based booking system. As a newly hired substitute, you will undergo an introduction before you start working in the schools.
Your Competence and Experience
We are looking for someone who meets the following requirements:
- high school diploma, alternatively adult education diploma, or a foreign diploma validated by UHR
- experience in classroom teaching, either through work or completed practical training (VFU 2)
- good ability to express yourself and be understood in Swedish, both spoken and written
It is an advantage if you have:
- ongoing or completed teacher education, alternatively education as a teacher in leisure centers
- good subject knowledge in primary school subjects
- experience working with students in need of special support
We are looking for someone who can work independently and is confident in managing a classroom situation on their own. Since you, as a substitute teacher, replace the school's regular staff during their absence, we have high demands for flexibility, teamwork, and social skills as you often change workplaces. You have a good demeanor and are attentive and clear in your communication with students and colleagues. You approach your work in a responsible and engaged manner. Your pedagogical ability is high, and you can adapt your teaching based on the student's needs.
Other
In the selection process, we consider the current needs of the schools regarding subjects, activities, and areas. Therefore, we request a clear CV where relevant experiences are stated with the name of the workplace, year and month when the employment lasted, and scope. We respond to all applications and will contact you via email after selection.
To work in our schools, you must have a certificate from the Police's criminal record regarding school activities. Upon hiring, we prefer that the criminal record has been issued within the last three months.
We see diversity as enriching and welcome all applicants regardless of gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, ethnic background, religion, disability, and age.
Warm welcome to your application! The City of Stockholm works with competency-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's competence and thus counteracting discrimination.
