Eda is a municipality with approximately 1000 employees who all work in various ways to provide service to our citizens, employees, and visitors.

The assignment includes 20% school psychologist within the education administration's four primary schools, located in four different areas with about 900 students. The student health team within the education administration consists of three school nurses, three school counselors, and six special educators. The complementary resource organization, common to all schools, consists of ten special teachers, five family therapists, and eight social pedagogues.

The school psychologist contributes psychological expertise to the student health team's health-promoting and preventive work and conducts psychological assessments and evaluations. The work is carried out in close collaboration with the principal and other professionals in student health to support students' development and goal fulfillment. The school psychologist is centrally organized, works under the Health and Medical Services Act with a duty to document, and is based on evidence-based methods. The assignment focuses on group and organizational levels and contributes psychological knowledge to the school's systematic quality work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • contribute psychological expertise to the overall planning of student health work and in systematic quality work
  • provide psychological knowledge about protective and risk factors for students' health, learning, and development, for example through training on mental health and illness
  • provide guidance and consultation to the principal and other educational staff
  • map and analyze the needs of students and the school, propose and implement health-promoting and preventive measures, and evaluate and develop these
  • in collaboration with teachers, students, guardians, and other school staff, work with pedagogically oriented measures to support students' cognitive, social, and emotional development and support the development towards educational goals
  • at the principal's request, conduct psychological assessments and evaluations of students, groups, and organizations to contribute psychological knowledge about students' learning conditions and support needs
  • contribute to clinically oriented interventions such as diagnosing intellectual disabilities before decisions regarding admission to adapted primary or secondary schools
  • utilize knowledge about students' mental health in the broader work of student health

QUALIFICATIONS

Licensed psychologist.
