We are looking for you to work as a Guide at Stockholm City Mission's meeting place at Mariatorget

The meeting place Mariatorget is one of Stockholm City Mission's open meeting places that offers community, experiences, and activities in a welcoming environment. We meet daily people with different types of needs and in various life situations. The meeting place Mariatorget is a meeting place for everyone. The purpose is to create a place that promotes community and contributes to Stockholm City Mission's vision of a more humane society – for all.

As a guide at the meeting place Mariatorget, you have an important and central role. At the meeting place, you support many people who visit the house's various activities every day: the open activities, conversation and activity groups, and in guiding conversations.

Responsibilities

  • Inform about what the meeting place can offer in terms of activities, social activities, conversation groups, and cultural events and lectures. The work requires an active dialogue with colleagues in the house to ensure that the correct information is communicated at the entrance of the house. This presupposes an independent, active, and good dialogue with the relevant parties and that you keep yourself updated on the house's activities via the calendar and other communication channels.
  • Act independently, take initiative, and communicate with both guests and participants.
  • Guide individuals and link them to the right instance both internally and externally.
  • Support participants towards a positive change and approach in collaboration with conversation leaders.
  • Assist conversation leaders with both planning and practical matters as needed.
  • Assist with practical tasks such as rearranging furniture, assisting the restaurant in the open activities' operation, and preparing for events in the house.
  • Staff the information desk.
  • Work to create a safe place for visitors, participants, and employees.
  • Work to increase participant involvement in the activities and plan and implement activities together with the participants.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education such as social pedagogue, treatment assistant, leisure pedagogue, teacher, or equivalent as assessed by the employer.
  • Experience working with children/youth/parents.
  • Identify with Stockholm City Mission's values.

Meritorious:

  • Previous experience working at a meeting place where community guidance was included.
  • Experience working with children and youth with NPF (neuropsychiatric disabilities).
  • Knowledge of LAB (low-affect response).
  • Worked in addiction care and correctional services.

To thrive in the role, we see that you are solution-focused, positive, and stress-resistant. The operation is dynamic and changing, which places demands on flexibility and adaptation among our employees. The work includes taking personal responsibility for certain activities, sometimes in a team with colleagues, so we value that you are creative, driven, and self-sufficient.

We offer

The position is located at the Meeting Place Mariatorget and is a temporary position at 70% until August 30, 2026. The work mainly takes place Monday to Friday but also on Sundays. As a guide, you will work one evening a week.

We offer an open and welcoming workplace with engaged and unpretentious colleagues. Together we work to make a difference for the people Stockholm City Mission meets, and we dare to promise that you will see that your efforts yield great returns for the activities you work with.

Application

In this recruitment, Stockholm City Mission has chosen to remove the personal letter from the recruitment process. Instead, we ask selection questions during the application to learn more about your motivation/interest and how well you meet the job requirements.

Welcome with your application!

Stockholm City Mission is a non-profit organization that works to create a more humane society for all. We do this by working with social care, education, and labor integration. Something we have been doing since 1853 when we were founded to help those who were worst off in society.

Our goal is for everyone to get new life chances, strengthen their own power, and be involved in society. Stockholm City Mission offers people emergency help, advice, and support for social rights, housing, work training, and education to prevent and break social exclusion. Our main tool is that people strengthen their belief in themselves and their own abilities. In this way, we together create a sustainable and more humane society for all.
