About Us:

The Church of Sweden in Jönköping, part of the Diocese of Växjö, is a dynamic and growing congregation that reflects the city's development and change.

With an annual population growth of nearly 2000 inhabitants and a municipality aiming to reach 200,000 residents in the long term, our congregation is in constant motion. This development affects not only our residents but also the business community, associations, and the role of the Christian congregation in the city. We operate in a context where our ten churches are organized into three geographical parish areas and where we run three preschools, family counseling, conversation, and diaconal services. We are present in the hospital, at the university, and in the correctional system, and we are constantly seeking new creative ways to be present in the city's emerging areas. The funeral service is active in four operational areas.

“Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them.” In Ljungarum Church, Jesus' words are a lived reality every day.

The whitewashed medieval church stands in the middle of Ljungarum, surrounded by life, movement, and strollers in the dense residential area where many families are at the beginning of life. Here, generations meet: baptism gowns and confirmation groups, quiet prayer with faithful worshippers, music services that lift the roof, and laughter from children's activities.

The parish hall S:t Olofsgården is also used by Strömsberg School, and the students hardly notice where the boundary between church and school lies.

A warm and well-functioning work community provides security to chart a direction for the future with traditions behind us.

Ljungarum Church is part of the Söder parish area in Jönköping's congregation, together with Gräshags Church, Råslätt Church, and the work in Södra Munksjöstaden/Skeppsbron, where we also dare to explore new ways of being church.
