Contact Nurse in Surgical Urology
Are you a person who wants to make a difference for our cancer patients? Do you also want to be involved in developing your workplace and cancer care? Then you could be our new contact nurse colleague in surgical urology.
Welcome with your application!
You are offered
- professional development both internally and externally, as well as an individual introduction program that we create based on your specific needs
- to work based on person-centered care, where each individual's needs, resources, and participation are in focus
- a varied job where you work independently with your own patient responsibility while being an integral part of a multiprofessional team with close collaboration around patient care.
Of course, you will also benefit from our general benefits that Karolinska University Hospital offers you.
About the position
As a contact nurse with us, you primarily handle patients with bladder cancer and prostate cancer. Karolinska has the regional assignment for patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer undergoing robot-assisted cystectomy. With us, patients with prostate cancer are investigated and treated. The contact nurse is an important part of the team around these patients and has overall responsibility throughout the care chain.
The contact nurse is responsible for creating accessibility, continuity, security, and strengthening the patient's opportunities for participation in care. The role of the contact nurse also includes providing support during normal crisis reactions to patients and relatives. Your work as a contact nurse consists largely of supportive and informative conversations during outpatient visits and telephone consultations.
We work according to the national assignment description for contact nurses. The contact nurse participates in diagnosis announcements and multidisciplinary conferences, establishes/revises the Care Plan, assesses the need for cancer rehabilitation, and establishes rehabilitation plans.
You will have your own calendar where you are responsible for following up on your patients at different stages. Your work is both independent and in close collaboration with your colleagues in the team, other professions, and other services.
We are looking for someone who
- is engaged, flexible, and confident in their professional role
- can work independently, take responsibility and make decisions while enjoying working in a team with other contact nurses and outpatient staff
- is structured and can plan, prioritize, and follow up on your work effectively.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Swedish nursing license
- Several years of work experience as a nurse
Meritorious:
- Completed training as a contact nurse, 7.5 credits (if you have not already completed the training, we offer the opportunity to do so while employed)
- Experience as a nurse in urology or cancer care
- Previous experience with the Take Care and TeleQ journal systems
- Specialist training in surgery, oncology, or other equivalent education.

Selection and interviews may take place continuously during the application period.
In connection with your application, you need to attach your CV. Instead of a personal letter, we ask you to answer selection questions and briefly explain why you are suitable for the role. Answering the questions is a prerequisite for your application to be considered complete.
