Medical Acute Care Unit, MAVA

MAVA is part of internal medicine in Gävle and has 20 care places. Here, acutely ill patients with medical problems are treated. The main diagnoses in the department include liver cirrhosis, liver failure, heart problems/arrhythmias, intoxication and addiction, diabetes, and electrolyte disturbances, as well as patients with other medical issues such as infections, COPD, or reduced general condition.

We work for fast flows and short hospital stays. We strive for good collaboration between different professional groups in the department to facilitate work and ensure a good work environment and patient safety.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The work in the department is currently divided between a nurse and a nursing assistant per care team, responsible for five patients. MAVA provides care around the clock, which means shifts during days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

As a nursing assistant with us, you will work with:

• basic care and regular tasks as a nursing assistant
• checks according to orders and follow-ups
• sampling, connecting telemetry, and maintaining telemetry
• assisting with drain placement.

Tasks are often close to the patient in close collaboration with the nurse and other colleagues.

QUALIFICATIONS

Are you one of the new employees who want to help develop the department?

We are looking for you who are a nursing assistant and enjoy challenges, preferably with experience from similar operations. You need to be flexible and able to quickly adapt to changing circumstances. Having a good initiative, showing interest, and being helpful are important qualities to succeed in the role of nursing assistant with us. You will need to handle rapid prioritizations one moment and in another moment hold a patient's hand and provide comfort. Personal suitability is of great importance.

In the role of nursing assistant, you should:

• have high school competence in health and care
• be able to communicate fluently in Swedish in both speech and writing
• have good computer skills as documentation is done digitally.

Information about the title nursing assistant

As of July 1, 2023, the title nursing assistant became a protected professional title. This means that you will need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title nursing assistant in health and care. You can apply for the certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare. If you do not have a certificate, you can continue to work in health and care, but with a different title than nursing assistant. In Region Gävleborg, this means that the title in your employment contract will be care assistant until your certificate is submitted.
