Do you want to work in a technical environment where you can combine measurement technology, quality assurance, and operational work close to production? Then this could be the job for you!

The Most Important Job of the Future

We want to lead the transition of our industry towards a sustainable future. Just as we want to change the world, we want to develop everyone who is with us on the journey, both personally and professionally. Do you want to help shape the future of the world’s mining and mineral industry?

The Special Products business area delivers services and products. The business area consists of five divisions with operations in industrial minerals, mining and construction services, mechanical services, drilling technology, and explosives.

In Luleå, LKAB Special Products is planning an industrial park for the extraction of critical minerals from what is currently mining waste from our iron ore production. We plan to produce rare earth metals used in electric vehicles and wind turbines, as well as phosphorus, which is an important component in mineral fertilizers to ensure food on our tables. Together, this is crucial for our transition, electrification, and Europe’s self-sufficiency.

We are now taking the next step in our investment in critical minerals by establishing a research and development center and a demonstration facility for the refinement of phosphorus and rare earth metals in Luleå. The refinement is a hydrometallurgical process aimed at validating the ongoing work in the industrial park.

Your Role

We are looking for a driven and structured employee who wants to develop our working methods, ensure high data quality, and contribute technical expertise in a developing operation. You will work closely with operations, technology, and management and have a broad responsibility that includes technology, quality, and coordination. The role is central to ensuring that our campaigns and processes are carried out efficiently and safely.

Your main tasks will include:

  • Ensuring that campaigns are planned and executed according to plan.
  • Responsible for staffing, procurement of external personnel, and scheduling for shift work.
  • Developing and following up routines that ensure high quality in measurement data and performing calibration of sensors and analytical equipment.
  • Working together with operational staff in routines and daily execution.
  • Contributing measurement technical expertise in renovations and improvement projects.
  • Being part of the facility's management team.

The work takes place in two phases:

  • During campaigns, shift work may occur, focusing on support during operations, stoppages, and startups.
  • During maintenance, you will work daytime with mechanical work, equipment maintenance improvements, organization, and analysis together with other staff.

What You Bring

To thrive in this role, we see that you are analytical and solution-oriented, with the ability to understand complex processes and translate insights into practical improvements. You work in a structured manner and create order in both data and working methods. At the same time, you are ambitious and drive development forward together with colleagues in operations, technology, and management. In addition, you also have:

  • Driver's license for manual transmission (requirement)
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English (requirement)
  • M.Sc or B.Sc with a focus on production, measurement technology, or computer engineering (requirement)
  • Several years of relevant experience from an industrial environment is an advantage
