Language Teacher at the Swedish Defence University

The Swedish Defence University is an internationally renowned institution in defense, crisis management, and security. We offer a unique academic environment where civilian meets military. The Swedish Defence University trains Sweden's officers and leads the academic development of the officer profession. We conduct research in law with a focus on operational law and international law, defense systems, military science, leadership and management, military history, and political science.

The Language Centre at the Swedish Defence University has the main task of designing and implementing language training for military personnel working in the defense sector, primarily in English and French. In this position, in addition to teaching in the military programs, you will also strengthen the bilingualism at the institution and the two working languages, Swedish and English.

Job Responsibilities

Your tasks will also include designing and conducting language instruction for staff at the Swedish Defence University as well as some teaching in the military programs. Additionally, you will work on developing appropriate teaching materials for the courses you conduct. Language support in the form of translation and writing assistance is also included in the employment.

Who Are We Looking For?

We are looking for someone who has at least a master's degree in a relevant subject, preferably in English, or has equivalent qualifications. We want you to have at least three years of experience in adult education and documented pedagogical skills.

You should also have experience in training military personnel or officer candidates.

Experience in course administration and distance education is an advantage.

About the Employment

The position is a permanent employment that begins with a six-month probationary period.

Employment at the Swedish Defence University may involve a security clearance according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585).

The position may also include military placement. If you are already military placed in your current employment at an authority and your competence is needed in the Swedish Defence University's military organization, negotiations will take place between the relevant authority and the Swedish Defence University regarding where you will be placed.
