This is what the job is about

As an automation engineer, you support the operations at our facilities with problem-solving, technical development, and continuous improvements, while also contributing your expertise in smaller and larger projects where the rollout of our DCS system Mimer follows as a common thread.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Supporting our operational units and the ongoing development of VA SYD's automation solutions.
  • Collaborating with colleagues within VA SYD to optimize and develop our purification processes.
  • Programming and commissioning automation systems at facilities.
  • Participating in projects as a technical specialist and receiver.
  • Providing support during requirement specifications for procurements.
  • Promoting the work towards increased digitalization together with other departments and units.

The automation group you will be part of is part of the Maintenance Unit, which conducts and develops maintenance work at VA SYD's facilities for drinking water, wastewater treatment, and related facilities for control and regulation of the pipeline network. In the unit, we work cross-functionally and solution-oriented to solve our mission. Currently, we are 8 automation engineers, but to handle our upcoming challenges, we have a great need to grow. Together we have a broad knowledge in automation, information management, and work both preventively and rectively. We usually work from 07:00 to 15:30 and apply flexible working hours.

We offer

You will come to a workplace with a good community and pride in our important societal mission. As an automation engineer with us, you will have a lot of responsibility and the opportunity to influence both the work and your own professional development. We care about our employees and the importance of balance between work and leisure. We offer, among other things, wellness time, wellness grants, and the possibility of vacation day exchange. We actively work to ensure that VA SYD is perceived as a very good workplace by our employees.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who enjoys having a responsible role focused on delivering good results. You have a strong technical interest and the ability to quickly understand technical issues as well as to take technical solutions from idea to production. You are engaged and attentive, and enjoy both collaboration and working independently. Of course, you communicate well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing. We seek someone who stands behind our environmental identity and our core values of quality, engagement, and attentiveness.

Your experiences

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent with a focus on automation.
  • Work experience in industrial automation, preferably from the process industry. Several years of experience is considered an advantage.
  • Experience in programming and development within PLC and SCADA/DCS systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication solutions (e.g., Profinet and OPC).
  • A valid driver's license (B).
  • It is an advantage if you have experience with automation solutions from ABB such as AC800m and 800xA.

VA SYD has begun the journey to renew the automation platform; do you want to be part of the continued work? Welcome with your application!
