About the role

As a systems engineer in automation, you will work on the development, design, and testing of control and monitoring systems for advanced marine environments. You will follow the entire chain from concept to commissioning and be responsible for one or more specific automation systems on board.

Your tasks
  • Develop PLC software in Structured Text
  • Create system descriptions, software specifications, and documentation
  • Conduct simulations, tests, and troubleshooting
  • Participate in code and documentation reviews
  • Integrate the systems and eventually participate in commissioning on board
  • Understand the functionality and requirements for assigned vessel systems

You drive your own system but always have support from experienced colleagues; you will join a welcoming team! The projects encompass a wide range of varying automation systems – everything from lighting and ventilation to more complex process controls. Each system is developed from requirements to finished functionality, usually in cycles of 6–8 weeks.

Your profile

We are looking for someone who is goal-oriented, takes responsibility for their work from start to finish, and ensures that work is constantly progressing. You are curious and inquisitive, enjoy asking many questions to understand how complex systems are interconnected, especially in an environment where no one knows everything from the start. At the same time, you are helpful and collaborative. You work independently but never alone, contributing to the team spirit by sharing knowledge and supporting your colleagues when needed.

Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in fields such as engineering physics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, automation, etc.
  • At least 1 year of relevant work experience
  • Swedish and English, both spoken and written

The position requires that you undergo and be approved according to the Security Protection Act.

Meritorious
  • Experience as a Formula Student
  • Experience in commissioning
  • Experience within the Armed Forces
