Automation Engineer with Technical Project Management Responsibility
We are directly recruiting an automation engineer on behalf of our client, responsible for technical project management.
Do you want to help develop the logistics solutions of the future in a highly automated environment? At NewCold in Helsingborg, we are now looking for an Automation Engineer who wants to lead technical projects within automation and contribute to keeping our state-of-the-art facility one of the most advanced in the world.
About the Role
As an Automation Engineer, you will be a central part of our team in Helsingborg. Here, you work at the heart of our highly automated operations, where advanced technology meets large flows of goods in a constantly moving environment. You will be responsible for driving and developing projects that impact the entire facility's functionality – from the initial idea and requirements definition to commissioning and optimization of completed solutions.
The role combines technical depth with project management and collaboration. You will work closely with operations, maintenance, and international colleagues, and have the opportunity to influence how we work here in Helsingborg and how we develop our processes globally.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Project Management: Lead technical automation projects from start to finish – planning, execution, follow-up, and closure.
- Requirements Definition: Formulate clear functional descriptions and specifications for new solutions.
- System Integration: Ensure that PLC, SCADA, WMS, WCS, and other IT systems work seamlessly together.
- Testing & Validation: Participate in risk analyses, FAT/SAT, and commissioning to ensure quality and safety.
- Supplier Coordination: Order, define requirements, and follow up on suppliers' work.
- Analysis & Improvement: Initiate tests and capacity measurements, identify bottlenecks, and optimize performance.
- Documentation: Ensure that manuals, diagrams, and procedures are developed and handed over to operations and maintenance.
- Continuous Development: Work on continuous improvements to increase availability, efficiency, and reliability in automation.
Who Are You?
We are looking for someone who wants to combine their technical interest with the ability to drive projects forward. You have a post-secondary education in automation, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering and several years of experience in a role as an automation engineer.
You have knowledge of PLC logic, can interpret control and electrical diagrams, and have experience with the integration of automation systems. Additionally, you are accustomed to working with risk analyses, testing (FAT/SAT), and financial analyses such as ROI. You are fluent in both Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
As a person, you are analytical, curious, and solution-oriented. You thrive in cross-functional collaboration but are also self-driven and structured. Quality and safety are important guiding principles for you, and you see opportunities in change.
The position is to be filled as soon as possible, and applications are handled continuously.
