About the job

In the role of aviation technical inspector, we can offer you an exciting and developing position with varied tasks and many interesting challenges, involving collaboration with different stakeholders in the civil aviation sector, both nationally and internationally.

We are responsible for licensing, supervision, and analysis for:

  • maintenance organizations (Part-145, Part-CAO, and AUB)
  • airworthiness organizations (Part-CAMO, Part-CAO, and NLO)
  • aircraft (EASA and nationally)

In your work, you will have contact with large and small organizations, with owners/operators of varying sizes of aircraft.

You will work with professional and knowledgeable colleagues who, together with you, contribute to developing the business.

You will, for example,

  • plan and conduct operational and access controls for maintenance and airworthiness organizations
  • review documentation and respond to applications
  • inspect aircraft
  • participate in work on upcoming regulations and inform about these both internally and externally
  • take part in information and training seminars aimed at the market
  • prepare, draft, and process authority decisions
  • answer questions, within your area of responsibility, from the public and operators.

You must have

  • civil aviation technician certificate with supplementary training/experience in maintenance and continued airworthiness of aircraft and components or an engineering degree (aeronautics, aviation technology, mechanics, electrical, instrumentation) or equivalent knowledge focused on maintenance/production of aviation material
  • at least 5 years of relevant and current experience from the civil aviation technical field
  • experience working in maintenance or airworthiness organizations with small, large civil aircraft and/or helicopters
  • knowledge of national and international regulations for maintenance and continued airworthiness
  • good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in both Swedish and English
  • driver's license with at least B category.

It is meritorious if you also have

  • experience from a leading position in maintenance or airworthiness organization
  • conducted quality audits as an auditor.

The employment is permanent with placement in Kista or Norrköping. Start date by agreement. We normally apply a probationary period.

As an employee with us, there is an opportunity to work remotely up to three days a week. The needs of the business and the nature of the tasks will determine whether and to what extent this is possible.

Employment with us may involve placement in a security class. A security review with a background check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) may therefore be conducted before a decision on employment. For some of our tasks in security class, Swedish citizenship is required.

The work involves travel in service, primarily in Sweden but also abroad.

Areas of operation: Transportstyrelsen works to achieve good accessibility, high quality, safe, and environmentally friendly transport within rail, aviation, shipping, and road. We develop regulations, grant permits, and follow up on compliance. With the help of our registers, we work with fees, permits, and ownership changes.

Locations: We have employees in 12 locations across the country. The largest part of the operations is in Borlänge, Norrköping, and Örebro.

About the Maritime and Aviation Department

The Maritime and Aviation Department contributes to a competitive, environmentally friendly, and safe transport system. We do this by maintaining registers, formulating regulations, processing and granting permits, and exercising supervision. We also operate in many contexts on the international arena.

We are located in Norrköping, Gothenburg, Malmö, and Stockholm and have approximately 300 employees organized into six units and a staff unit.
