Slakthusområdets gymnasium is looking for a special educator with teaching responsibilities

Workplace Description

Slakthusområdets gymnasium will open in August 2026 in Stockholm's newest district.

We will start with approximately 250 students in the first year and are expected to be fully developed with 800 students by the third year. The school is entirely newly built with study-adapted facilities and offers three programs: the Business Program, the Social Science Program, and the Sales and Service Program. Your Role

Before the school starts in August, we are looking for a special educator with qualifications to teach Swedish and/or mathematics at the high school level. The assignment is divided into two parts, both as a special educator and as a subject teacher, where the subject teacher constitutes 50% of the position. The distribution of assignments in the position may change over time.

In the role of special educator, you will work both closely with students and at a school-wide level. You will teach at the high school level based on your qualifications and simultaneously contribute to the school's efforts to develop accessible and inclusive learning environments. Your work is both promoting, preventive, and remedial. As a special educator, you will be part of the school's student health team and work health-promoting and preventive so that all students receive the guidance and stimulation they need in their learning and personal development.

Your main tasks include:

  • Teaching your subject with the usual tasks for teachers.
  • Conducting assessments, pedagogical investigations, and adaptations for students in need of support. Teaching students in need of special support and/or adaptations.
  • Working with general interventions at an overarching level but also at group and individual levels.
  • Guiding and supporting teachers in the work with extra adaptations and special support.
  • Contributing to the school's systematic quality work through analysis, follow-up, and development efforts.
  • Collaborating with the student health team and school management to strengthen the school's pedagogical work.

Your Competence and Experience

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a teaching license and a special education degree with qualifications to teach Swedish and/or mathematics at the high school level.
  • Has experience teaching at the high school level in Swedish and/or mathematics.
  • Has experience working with students in need of support at the high school level.
  • Experience in mentoring, school development, or working in a student health team.
  • Has a good ability to collaborate, communicate, and create trusting relationships with teachers and students.
  • Has a well-developed ability to express oneself in speech and writing as well as solid digital competence.
  • Is engaged, curious, and willing to try new ideas.
  • Wants to contribute to developing a new high school and be involved in building working methods and culture to create a school where students feel safe, seen, and motivated.

You are independent and proactive, empathetic and show good judgment, and you are also structured and creative. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
